Using two xinput controllers on Linux

I'm setting up my HTPC to use in-home streaming and before I go out and buy two xbox 360 controllers to use, I want to make sure it will work.

Has anyone had success using two gamepads on Linux under steam? Do they detect just fine and work in game or are there modifications that need to be made?

If you want to use more than one game controller at one time, that depends on the game. Most will not allow more than one active controller device at a time to be detected.

What Linux build are you using?

The HTPC is just running Ubuntu 14.4.

I'm asking for games that support two-person play on the same box, specifically the Lego series. It works fine with two controllers on my Windows box, I'd just like to do the same on my htpc.
