New Razer Mouse
I need help deciding what Razer mouse to get. I am stuck between the:
Taipan [www.razerzone.com]
Deathadder [www.razerzone.com]
Orochi [www.razerzone.com]

I am currently leaning toward the Orochi because it is laser and wireless, but the Deathadder is cheaper, but also optical, and the Taipan is laser, but wired. Any people who have owned one of these mice and can give some advice would be appreciated.

Thunder, out.

Hey Thunder,

Just a few things to keep in mind. The Orochi's only wireless connectivity is over bluetooth and it doesn't come with a dongle like most other wireless mice. Also, in my experience the Orochi is quite small when compared to other mice.

Here's a size comparison between it and the Deathadder. Image [androidforum.com]

From what I heard the Taipan is pretty decent though I can't talk about it much since I haven't actually used it like the others.

The Deathadder is one of my favorite mice. I had the 2012 for a long time before switching to my Steelseries Sensei (My current favorite mouse). Never had any real issues with the mouse besides the braiding on the cable getting messed up over time. That seemed to be more of an isolated issue since my friends Deathadder never had that problem.

If it was my decision I would go with either the Taipan or the Deathadder. The Orochi isn't bad but the fact that it's limited to a 125Hz polling rate over wireless and the input lag is noticeable (8ms as listed by Razer) when doing so makes it less valuable in my eyes.

If I had to chose one mouse though it would be the Deathadder. They both support polling rates of up to 1000Hz and their maximum DPI's aren't to far apart (6400 vs 8200). I personally use between 500 and 1000 DPI so the maximum DPI isn't really important to me. Granular control of the DPI is however. The only major difference between the two is the optical senor on the Deathadder versus the laser sensor on the Taipan.

Razer Deathadder or Logitech G500, are two of the best gaming mice I would highly recommend. Can't go wrong with them, eight years+ later, daily hardcore gaming abuse and they will still be going strong, running just like the day you got them! Relaxed palm grip, good weight, weaved cable, accurate lazer, min fancy features but everything you need and nothing you don't for gaming purposes.

Use a Razer Goliathus (control or speed depending on playing style) mouse pad to go with it.

ps: Pro gamers don't use wireless, you can figure out why the hard way.

I personally use the Taipan. I have owned this mouse for almost 2 years and it is hands down one of the best I have ever used. I don't care for the high DPI, I use 800, but if that appeals to you then that's a plus too. This mouse uses a dual sensor sytem one being laser the other optical, so it has pixel perfect accuracy. I just figured I would throw my 2 cents in.

To add to my previous post, a buddy had bought the orochi for his gaming laptop and the primary mouse button stopped working. He was enraged to say the least. that is my only experience with the orochi.

Using a Razer Imperator. Great piece of hardware. Could not go for bigger ones due my smaller hands.
And true. All pros use wired mouses. So if you plan to use mainly for gaming and you don't run arround the house with the mouse, I would recommend to go for wired.

Are you open for any other brand than Razer? Look for Logitech g700 or refreshed version g700s. Both got laser optics and are wireless. In case when batteries are dead you can plug attached cable to charge them and still use mouse at the same time.

Yeah, If you want a good wireless gaming mouse, I highly recommend the Logitech G700 or G700s. It's confortable and functional. The Orichi it's mostly made for mobile gaming, so it's more compact.

I am currently looking at the 3500 DPI DeathAdder. Is this mouse signifigantly worse than the newer version with 6800 DPI? Is the difference notable?

I can't use a DPI higher than 1800 before things get pretty jittery. It's too fast. I keep it around 600-800. It doesn't matter what the DPI is as long as it's 1000+ and adjustable. It's a good idea to get a nice mouse mat/pad for even better mouse control. They have nice dual sided mats.

It's just how much you can change it. DPI settings really depends on your preference.
