I'm so sorry, I read the post from avalenti001 and took his word that it was a Socket 1155. That has taught me a lesson to do my own research in future...
But yeah, sadly I couldn't find more than one or two CPU's for the 1156 platform, so may be it's a good time for a proper refresh. Yeah, I know, never a good time to find money for a major PC refresh/upgrade...
Then again, you only need a CPU and motherboard upgrade. Okay, let's start with what type/speed RAM have you got and graphics card? That'll give people an idea of what to look for in your price range.
We need PC specs...
4gb dual channel ram 1333mhz
gt545 2gb (upgrade later)
1tb HDD
400 watt psu
cpu is dying and bios splash screen takes 1 min to load (1 week ago it was 10 sec, yes did try to reset bios) so thats what im going to upgrade first.
was looking at the fx 8320 and the i5 4670k, is the price difference (90 euro's) worth it?
Is the single-core performance of amd really that bad, I know it has a 25% worse IPC then intel, will I have issues playing old single core games like CSS on large surf maps and such?
Have you tried playing CS source on a map like surf_buck-fever?
Yea thats probaly true.... Can anyone suggest some parts, cpu, mobo, psu and case? (my case is really crappy so I probaly should replace it :P)
an i-5 4690 cus i-5 is more than enough since u run one already and i-7s are kinda pointless unless u actually need it (u also should make sure the new one supports ur ram)
I havn't looked at the gtx800 series yet or the new radeon but u might wanna wait for those cus all the old ones will drop in price
just don't skimp on the motherboard and u should be fine, they're more useful than u might think
and make sure ur powers supply is silver 80X rated
Do you know any full ATX boards that support OC'ing for 4690K that are under 150 bucks?
Look for a Z97 chipset motherboard. Most will have the 'Z97' in the model name. Don't go for the H97, yes, it's cheaper, because it doesn't support overclocking. The Z97 chipset supports all the latest features of the 4690 CPU and gives a nice speed hike over the Z87.

if you want sli, it will be around $110-120
