Change in GPU Idle temperature due to weather(?)
Hello. How is everyone? Hopefully well.
For the record, this is my first ever PC, and it took me sometime to get it going and needed help to put it physically together. It's been over a year now since I have had it, it works well according to plan. But lately, I have been noticing some changes in the GPU idle temperature; from 34C to 48C. It's very hot this time of the year in my country, and my A.C is always on on almost the coolest temperature. Though, the full load temperature always end up at 70C-75C as always been.
So, I'm just wondering if it's really the temperature in my area that is causing this or is there some issue?
As you would expect, when I play at full settings on most of the games, the card gets noisy. I think that's the problem with AMD cards.. that's always been the case since day 1 with me. I say this, because I asked around a lot.
It's night time in my city right now, and it's 41C. Even the air itself is hot!

Do you have a lot of dust in your area? Because both dust and hotter temps will definatly raise the idle temperatures.

I clean the PC every once and a while. A week ago, I opened it up and cleaned the dust from the inside. As for the outside, I do it all the time.
Huh, have you installed any new drivers or bioses?

Yes, they're both up to date. I just installed the new AMD GPU driver 14.6

Umm all graphics cards, be it nvidia or AMD, gets noisy when the fans spin faster. Facts of life.

Anyway 70-75c is absolutely fine during load. It's great in fact. Idle temps I don't really care about, they are fine as well.

Obviously when the air around is getting warmer (such as during summer time) it will directly affect every single component in your pc. Another fact of life.

Thanks, BDK. I appreciate it, I do.
In August my city becomes like BBQ grill, it can even reach 49C-52C in a normal evening.
Next time I upgrade, I might go Nividia, but for sure, I'll get CPU and GPU coolers.
I usually see a rise in temps during summer, usually between 5-7°c for my CPU (i7). All I do is make to keep it clean from dust, yeah 80-90°F here and even when I have ac on its still humid.
maybe with the cooler ambient temps the fan speed profile is set to run slower and warmer when idle
when it was warmer, it could have been enough to keep the fan at a higher speed causing it be cooler

anyhoo idle temps are meaningless, as long as its under 90c on an intel build its fine

I know how it feels. I might open it and clean everything from within with someone professional, since I'm not good at this, and I don't want to ruin anything. I know my limits, and I don't want to push it, or else, I might damage any hardware inside. Maybe, I'll put another Red Shark fan as well :).

I agree. Thanks for replying :). Thanks to everyone who answered me.

maybe you need to change the thermal paste and clean the dust out of the system

I wasn't the one who put the parts together inside the case, entirely, though I'm the one who ordered and collected them. While I was there when he was installing the parts, but I was mainly watching and observing a bit. I didn't want to put them myself and mess things up. Anyway, within the next 10 days, I'll go to a trusted shop that I know of, and install another new Red Shark fan on the side. I don't remember if we put thermal paste. Can you elaborate more please? I'd like to learn.

EDIT: I cleaned most of the parts from the inside recently.

Of course your entire build will run hotter if the ambient temperatures increase. You can think of the ambient temperatures as a baseline for how low your temperatures will go. Thus, the higher the ambient temperature, the hotter your hardware will start at.

Thanks :). I just wanted to make sure, you know? It's my first build and I saved lots of money to get it together overtime. I was worried something had gone wrong..
But when I play games on Ultimate settings, it still never crosses 73C-75C, I guess the fan works faster&faster in the current hot temperature to keep everything normal.
My AC is now open at 16C on full power, and the room is still warm, and I have been sweating :/.

EDIT: I just restarted my PC, and the temperature is now set back to 34C-35C.
That's nice.
