Can you switch a GT 1030 to a newer graphics card like a GTX 1660 or RTX 2060?
I needed someone to help because I am afraid to replace a new damn Motherboard for a new GPU. All I know is to switch the PSU to order to run these cards. I want a affordable GPU and i was thinking like a RTX 2060 so i can run newer games. All i have is a GT 1030

Full specs

100% the PC

It is not a bad PC for a prebuilt. I like it. Except for the Gt 1030. Probably a little limiting. So yea an RTX 2060 would make that system fly. Only problem is that I can't find how big or what kind of PSU it has online. I am still looking. You don't know how big the PSU? Are you able to somehow open it up and see? Or have someone do it? If the PSU is at least 500w then I wouldn't definitely pull the trigger and buy the GPU you want.
Ill open up and keep you update it when i get the chance. But the guy Talby says something about a Corsair CX or CXM what you think? sounds decent to me

Questions:
Does other GPUs like a 2070 to 2080 or 3000 Series use the same PCI Express? or different

(I posted this list because I thought it was funny. They tell you so much but nothing about the PSU.)

LOl, I just love how companies will tell you everything about the system except what kind of PSU it has and how powerful it is. That tells me they don't want you to know because it is junk and probably not powerful enough.

The fact that it had a GT1030 in it, tells me they probably went the cheapest they could go and got the minimum PSU they could have for the system with a brand that isn't very good.

Still researching but I will let you know.

BTW, a GT 1030 requires a PSU that has at least 300w for the system. So if that is all that it is, you will need to upgrade it to have an RTX 2060.

They all use the same PCI Express slot. So you can upgrade to any of those. Just make sure that your PSU is powerful enough.

And yes Corsair is a great brand for PSUs.

I am still looking. You have me curious now. But I can't seem to find anything about the PSU. And Corsair would be excellent. And as far as your PC, I am pretty sure it will not blow up, but if a 130 only requires a 300w PSU, your system might only have that. But I will see what I can find out.

But worse comes to worse, I would buy a new PSU and GPU anyway. If you can afford it. Everything else on the system looks pretty good. So with a 2060 or greater GPU, that system will fly. Unfortunately there is a chip shortage right now and it may be difficult to secure a good GPU at a good price.

Speaking of PSU I did found somebody ask a question but what sucks no answer.

I called iBuyPower PC for you, lol, and without the serial number they weren't able to tell me exactly what PSU they put in it, but they did tell me that they probably put a minimum of a 500w PSU in that system. Now, you should be able to just remove the right side panel where all the cables are and the brand of the PSU and the wattage should be written right on it.

But if you have the serial number of the pc, call 1-888-618-6040, press 1, give them the serial number and they will tell you. Are you in the United States?

But if you can, just open up the right side panel and you should see the PSU and everything written on it.

I know it is almost impossible to find out what PSU they put in it online. But iBuyPower did tell me they usually put a minimum of a 500w in their systems. But I wouldn't trust that.

It will come down to physical space being enough for a larger gpu card, and your power supply being enough. You'll want around 550-600 watts gold certified PSU for gtx 1660 or better. Even if you swap out one nvidia gpu for another. You still want to do a gpu driver wipe with the DDU app in safe mode. Then shutdown the pc, swap over to the new gpu, hookup it's power cables and display cable, then power on the pc and install the latest driver fresh again.
