Also Microsoft been funny, they back paddling few times, and only makes them look like a joke more, and more, they either realize they can't force everyone to newer hardware, or realize not everyone willing to upgrade their systems at their beck and call, as well they know out right this only case more E-waste really as the avg Joe either throw it out, if they can't sell it off for fair price, or don't know how to repurpose it. That why very old hardware are likely to be found in trash, such as from the 80s, 90s, and possibly early 2000 before quad core became mainstream. You may come across possible hardware that made after 2008, but that either due company doing E-waste because couldn't sell, or just faulty hardware.
Also MS know they're causing some people to look to using another device such as Mac, Chromebook, or installing linux to skip W11, or stick to using their current OS such as W10, or etc.
I think I'll reformat back to 10 and use it for a couple years while I get certified in Linux in the meantime.
It's weird because I was so excited for 11 at first, now I'm just getting tired of Microsoft and them pushing hardware requirements during a shortage. It just doesn't make any sense and it's why I no longer want to be a part of windows anymore.
Plus for me newer AAA games only offer good graphic and are terribly lacking in many other aspects, like replayability. I find these games extremely boring and I only use them for benchmarking purposes anyways.
But i only used it for ~30 minutes. I mainly use Linux lol
LMFAO...You do know this was a joke post right?
I mean it brings to light some real and true stuff that Microsoft said and did. But obviously I was joking and being sarcastic. I think you missed that.
even comes with 4 different desktop layouts, one like win7, one like 10, one like apple (puke) and one like ubuntu. only linux distro i haven't had to reinstall yet for some stupid reason like a changed a setting and borked something and couldn't get it back the way i wanted it.
you're using win 11 but calling OTHER people fools? do you even game bro?
I second that. Windows 7 was also my favorite version. As well as XP. Also have fond memories of 3.11, 95, and 98 back in the 90's. But I don't know if all those versions of Windows were actually better than any other version or I just think they were good because I have fond memories of them.
3.11 was really my first memories with windows as it was on my first "real" PC I had as a kid. It had an Intel 486 processor and it is where I played games like Wolfenstein and Doom. The PC actually loaded to MS-DOS 6.0 and did everything from there. And there was the option to go into Windows 3.11 to use a bunch of applications. But really all my games on that PC were loaded from DOS. I also believe that this is the PC that I first had Dark Forces on. I am trying to remember all the other games I had on it but having a hard time. I know Warcraft II was on it, and I do remember that I had a subscription to PC Gamer which came with demo disks every month so you could try out games.
Windows 98 was on my first Pentium PC and this is where I first played Half Life. I had a bunch of good games on it back then in the late 90's.
Windows XP was on my first AMD PC. This is the PC I had bought when I first started college back in 2001. I had an Athlon XP processor on it but I forget how fast it was. It was the 1800 or 1900. Something like that. I also had a Geforce card on it. I can't quite remember what it was I had on it but I remember upgrading it a little in the summer of 2004 to a faster Athlon XP, more ram, and better GPU so I could play Doom 3, Half Life 2, and the first Far Cry. I am not sure but it might of been a Geforce 5700. I remember it wasn't the fastest, but it could handle Doom 3 and Half Life 2. But it did struggle with Far Cry a little when it was maxed out. I did have some fond memories of that PC but unfortunately it crapped out in 2007. Looking back on it, I think it was around the same time Crysis released. My PC might have been scared that I would buy it and try to install it and decided to go quietly in the night.
After that I went 3 years without a gaming rig until I bought a mid range Windows 7 PC at the end of 2010. It had an AMD Athlon II x 4 640 processor, a GTX 460, and 4GB of RAM. It wasn't the best, but it was that PC that got me back into PC Gaming.
In the summer of 2011 I upgraded it to an AMD Phenom II x6 1100T, a GTX 570, and 8 GB of RAM. Since then I have been building and upgrading ever since. Last consoles I bought were the XBox 360 and the PS3. Been sticking to PC Gaming and haven't regretted a minute of it.
i had a ps3 too but after i had moved one time, it just sat there in the box for like a year or two so i sold it, kinda wish i wouldn't have now though because it was one of the launch versions that also played ps2 games. and now it's kinda hard to find a ps2 now that's in good shape that works and is in good condition for a decent price. and only reason i would even want one is to play Midnight Club: Dub Edition. still my favorite racing game of all time. but yeah, i'm done with consoles. (plus i use a ps3 controller when needed on pc anyway)
I thought it was funny tho, i was working on this construction job a good while back and there were these russian guys there, and not sure how we got in a conversation about computers and games, but i'll never forget them saying, "f**k console, consoles for kids!" lol. he said that's how they look at them over there.
plus classic shell works, and is getting ported to 11 when they make us all use it
I had a Pentium III with 512 MB RAM and a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 at the time. It did... not like me trying Doom 3 nor Far Cry on it.
I later moved to a Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, and a GeForce 6800 GS AGP, and it allowed me to play both at high settings well. I'd say that's when I got into the "modern, more demanding" territory of PC gaming. Everything prior to then was older or lighter stuff. That lasted me until 2007 or so as well. The most demanding thing I tried on it was Crysis (the demo). It didn't fare very well with it, but the next PC did (which is when i moved on from having Dell after Dell and built my first one, though I still like Dell a bit).
Funny how I have more gravitated back to lesser demanding games, and not because I can't play more demanding stuff or made a conscious choice to play less demanding stuff. I'm just not someone who needs 100 FPS, or 1440p/4k, or maximum settings without compromise, and I guess the games that appeal to me most lately aren't as demanding. In that way, even though Shredder highly exaggerates about how the GTX 970 stands up today (I have a comparable GTX 1060), I absolutely get how he is happy with it.
yep, and crysis kinda fell off too. you got this dude running around in an enhanced predator style mech suit that has CLOAKING abilities, but he's using a bow and arrow? c'mon. i actually never played any of the other far cry titles either. was kinda looking at the new one that just came out, but idk yet. what do you think? i did see that all the peta/sjw activists are trying to have it cancelled because it has c0ck fighting in it. so that to me is reason to support it.
As far as Crysis, I actually first played on it my Athlon II 640/GTX 460 system and it was able to run it decent. So I thought it was pretty good. But I remember when Crysis 2 came out in 2011 everyone was mad at Crytek because it had seemed dumbed down compared to the first one because of its simultaneous release on the consoles. But I was one that actually enjoyed Crysis 2's campaign and multiplayer more than the first. When they released the DX11 patch and High Res Textures for PC I thought it was gorgeous.
Funny you say that about your 1090T/560TI system. I gave my 1100T/570 to my dad too and he was using it up until this year too. Now I have it again. I have all my old computers too. I am thinking about digging through them and seeing if I can get them to work again. I still have a bunch of physical copies of my old games.
As far as consoles, I was never impressed at all with the PS4 and the XBox One. But the new PS5 and XBoxs have impressed me a little. Maybe because they are very similar to PCs more than ever. Especially with their SSDs. Don't think I would buy an XBox Series X because there is no point when you have a powerful enough PC as all those games will get released on PC as well but eventually I might buy a PS5 as I love me some God of War. But IDK, it looks like Sony will be releasing all their games on PC as well eventually.
