Logitech G35 headset problem.
Since yesterday, my Logitech G35 headset doesn't emit sound through the headphones. They only work on the USB ports on the right of my laptop. But when I plug in my Hard Drive USB on the left USB port, it works.

So what I'm saying is, my G35 doesn't work on the left USB port. The computer just doesn't detect it. Must've removed those files for the USB by accident.

If it detects the USB hard drive then it's not the port.
Could just be how the USB port & plug align. After about a year my mothers laptop was like that, USB 2.0 on the left was having some issues, but worked fine for her USB optical drive. So she just ended up having to plug in her mouse and headset on the right USB 3.0 ports. For some reason the mouse wouldn't align properly with the left port, and was just a somewhat bad connection. But other stuff works on it fine.

It isn't really how the USB headset plug aligns.
Every once in a while my set of G35, the speaker configuration doesn't automatically change from my 5.1 surround speakers to the headset. I have to go into the speaker settings in windows and manually change the audio to switch over to the headset.

If you haven't already, ensure the speakers are switching what they're sending audio to when you plug in the headphones. You may also want to test the headphones on another computer to see if they're still working should you not be able to get audio to come out of them.

Well, they just stopped working on the left side of my computer when I was scanning for problems using Iobit Malware fighter. Weird.

Let me explain it in a better way. I plug in the G35 on the left USB port, and click on Configure G35. Then it tells me, "To use the G35 software, please connect your G35 headset." even when I plugged it in.

I just now looked all over the internet to find a solution, but no success. :( My G35 is also not detected in the Sound, video and game controllers in my Device Manager, even when plugged in.

If you just ran the malware program, it should have a log of what it detected/removed/quarntined - see if it removed something related to the headphones. I doubt the issue would be with the USB port since Windows XP SP2, USB 2.0 has been automatically included as a built in driver and you said the external HDD is detected.

Maybe uninstall and re-install the G35 software.

Hmm yea don't use that crap software; sounds like it detected a Logitech related service and removed something (aka false positive)

uninstall and re-install the G35 software.

Just how u originally installed it; simply do it again.
http://support.logitech.com/product/g35-surround-sound-headset#download

Next time u scan with anti-virus/anti-malware; ensure of what it removes. Do not assume that what it want to remove is A-OK.

I've re-installed Windows a few times since I had my G35 headphones - I just used the CD that came with them to install the driver (or as linked above, you can go there).

Just use the Link (like for any hardware) to get the latest Driver & Software version

Make sure all your other Hardware Drivers are up to date too since you have re-done your OS. And don't get those from Windows Updates.

About the hard drive thing, I was wrong. While my headset doesn't work on the left USB port, the hard drive works for a few seconds but then turns off.

I tried your reinstalling suggestion, but didn't seem to solve the problem.

Then try the headset on another system. IDK maybe you have faulty USB ports.
Is your laptop still under warranty?

Idk. And I won't really bother using a headset on another system.

The USB port is actually partly working.

Well, I'm almost out of hope. I tried to find the problem of my left USB to get it to detect my G35 again.
