New to i7-4790k These Temps Normal?
Hey guys I Finnaly put the i7-4790k in,the cooler I have while putting it in did move around a little but never lifted it so no air bubbles.

Ok useing the Intel Etreme Tuning Utility or XTU Benchmark it says under load 81 - 83c did the benchmark twice is this normal? I am not overclocking just so ya know at the moment.

On my i5-4690 non k I was getting around 61c under load.

Debating if I should get the H100i or the Kracken if it will help temps.

Under idle I am around 24 - 30c but the computer has been only on for like a hour.

Not sure how good XTU is so not sure.

Please advise and thank you for the help.

Hmm just noticed the Corsair H105 and it seems to get higher reviews than the H100i. So yea iIwill get the H105 and 16gig Memory next Month :)

In Sept. I will get the MSI Z97A GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard :)

I noticed that even if i wanted to OC my current Motherboard if I read right can't do Overclocking or isnt the best for it. My MB at the moment is the ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard.
Corsair H105 is also a great cooler, I believe it's thicker than h100i so your temps would be even better. As for the motherboard, you will want Z97 for overclocking. The one you mentioned is a good model.

Ok thanks. I picked the motherboard also cause the way it looks, looks really nice not sure if ya have seen it or not.

This is what my build will be like once done. The ones without 5 star review are the ones I don't have yet

Sorry guys to bother you again but here is another Newb Question for ya.

When I go to Task Manager then performance I see it says under CPU

For Speed it says 4.32Ghz I am not over clocking so why is it going that high? is it normal?
CPU is around 6% utilization.

Also I notice that the CPU temp will jump all over the place from 38c to like 40 then to 43 then to 42 etc. lol is this normal for the i7-4790k?

Thanks in advance for the help.

the 4790k features a turbo boost, so that it will overclock itself whenever theres an intensive program being run. also 60 is pretty conservative, it could be lower depending on the country and area you live in.
I run a H100i with my i5-4670k that's OC'ed to 4.4. While gaming I don't go over 60C. A heavy benchmark program will push the temps upwards of 80-85C, but that's the extreme end and I don't run any games that puts that much work on the CPU.

Idle temps are right around 28C when overclocked. If I run at stock then the idle temps are right around 22-23C (which matches the ambient temp in my room). The fans are pretty quiet on the cooler. My 5 case fans (140mm Fractal Design Silent Series R2) make a little more noise than the H100i fans do, so things are pretty quiet. I can easily game without headphones, should I want to.
My system air cooled idles at around 19C which is cool as a cucumber at load it might get close to 50C. Evidence below of low idle temps.

You must be in a nice, cold room to hold 19C idle temp.
Average room temp varies 70-75F

The case fans are pushing quite a bit of air through the case as well.

My experience, you can't have a CPU temp below room ambient temp without LN or He cooling. 19C would be around 66F, which is why I thought the room temp was pretty cool.
It is what it is, this is the average temp first thing in the morning every morning...nothing liquid cooled about it. Pictures don't lie.

Temp sensor my not be correct....? I just don't know of any air cooler being able to run a CPU below room ambient temp. It could be cooler in your room in the mornings for all I know. I just haven't heard of nor experienced an air cooler dropping the temp below the room's temp.
The Temp sensor is located directly under the CPU socket on the back side of the motherboard....where it's supposed to be.

So I am guessing I am pretty safe then till August when I get the Corsair H105 from what I am reading from you guys. It hasnt hit 80c+ yet just playing games it only did it when I used the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility benchmarking.

So used to useing my i5-4690 non k and the temps being in the 20c's and 30c's idle lol,I will get used to the idle temps being in the 30c's and 40c's till next month :) or maybe this month if I decide to sell my i5 and my printer, can't really afford the ink at the moment :(

I may either just use the left over parts from this machine and build another computer so my 10 year old nice and her mom don't high jack my computer when they stay the weekend. My niece is addicted to Minecraft so I brought it and any time she comes over I let her play :)

Or I may just sell the i5 and the printer and get the H105 and the memory I planed to get next month.

hey guys I figured out why I was running at 4.32Ghz when I wasnt doing anything on the computer.

The Power Plan was set to High Performance,I set it to Balanced and now it runs at 0.80ghz and below when Idle.

My temps are below 30c when idle now since I changed the Power Plan.
4.32 is a little off make sure the bclk/fsb is set to 100

use cpuz to check
post a cpuz validation link

it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here
