Games laggy. Tried 3 different USB dongles.
I Thought it was the USB dongle, but I tried 2 others and I am still getting insane lag randomly. Latency shoots up to 300ms even when no one else is on the router.

It will rubberband for about 10-20 seconds now.

Is it my router? Of my r9 270 on ubuntu?

amd athlon 2 x4 640

6gb ddr3

gigabyte r9 270oc with open source drivers.

ubuntu 14.04

have you tried using wired LAN using cat5e/cat6e LAN cable?
are you playing games on 'max' settings?

Is this game being played on a dedicated server of some kind? Cuz if not and you're connecting to the host through P2P method, network lag may become a serious issue.

USB dongles are complete joke for gaming. If you have free PCI-E x1 slot on your motherboard then try this wi/fi card:

Not really an option as the router is quite far away and we have other stuff we need to do around the house that is more important.

Everything is minimized, 1440x900. It's not a graphical lag, I know that for sure.

Mostly play comp matches on CS:GO

It has never been an issue before. I have a few PCI wifi cards, I will give them a shot.

Even if u have to run a 50 - 100 ft Ethernet Cable, it will help ensure a better connection compared to anything Wireless. I mean how far away is your Modem/Router, unless u live in a mansion, it shouldn't be too far away. And if it really is that far, that is probably the issue you having anyways due to using Wireless, as your signal strength is most likely crap and that will ultimately affect overall throughput speeds, latency, etc.

I have a really strong signal. I'm using a directional antenna right now. But that was never the issue. It really only started to happen recently. I'm assuming it's actually the router itself.

You should perform at traceroute analysis to determine where the lag comes from.
