New Monitor causing lag

HELP ME ....
my monitor is Philips 246V and it has 5ms response time... my PC specs
i5-3450 Intel Core
3.1ghz
8gb ram
Geforce GTX 650 (1gb)
and when i'm trying to play a game like Defiance i have brutal lag. or any other game that has good graphics...

a 650 is not a very good card for gaming ,dont expect it to run games 120/144hz with high graphics settings and a large res like 2560x1440

res is 1920x1080 and hz is 60 i believe

maybe its the cable? im using VGA now because i dont have DVI cable, but i will try to get it tommorow, will that cable help? lag is only for gaming tho , movies, videos are great

Try another cable. Check the Monitor Settings within its menu system. Most HDTVs/Monitors have a "PC / Game Mode" so try looking for that as well. Did it only come with a VGA cable? Most come with multiple cables for the various inputs. I would use Digital (DVI / HDMI / DP) always avoid VGA.

well i bought this monitor in the shop but those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gave me only one cable, so i will have to buy DVI one... i will get DVI one. i will try what you said thanks :)

VGA cable is ancient history. Also GTX 650 is getting too weak for latest games, it would be worth considering to swap this to GTX 960.

well i do not realy care about new games , i like Skyrim , or some MMOs thats it. So guys you're saying that VGA cable causes the lag?

well ok bought DVI cable, still the same problem...cant play defiance without lagg...

its your card, get a better card like the 960. or turn down the resolution to 720p

well i aint rich runing and buying stuff like that so i have to sit with my GTX 650 :D and thanks resolution helped for games :)

Defiance is badly optimized console port and quite heavy on the hardware, it's pretty much like trying to run some latest AAA game.

FIXED IT OMG I FIXED IT i was so stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ... My Graphics card is great that was not the problem , problem was that im an idiot :D i inserted the cable into the intel HD place but not into the Graphics card :DDDD now i can play defiance at High quality and on 1920x1080 resolution and there is no lagg at all :D omg ... still thanks to all of you for all responses :)

gtx650 should run defiance just fine

the intel hd 2500 will struggle to do that

defiance is poorly optimized, but not bad enough to have problems with an i5 and half decent gpu

tried GTA 5 on medium and resolution 1920x1080 just perfection :D
