If yes, what u want to do before the swap is uninstall all your Motherboard and other core hardware drivers. A re-activation of your WindowsOS might also be required.
If you have enough free space, u can do that on the old drive without wiping out your old OS + Files. However u would still need to reinstall everything should u go that route.
However, please backup important data!
If u run into issues, then clean install the OS.
What do you have now for a CPU and why are you considering upgrading?
Me too; but I was serious. He has DayZ, which can't even run smooth on the best AMD CPU out there currently. However, on an i5 or i7, DayZ runs like butter.
I'm asking you to prove what you claimed about DayZ not running smoothly on AMD's best CPUs, even if you use a decent GPU, like the Titan X, GTX 980 Ti or the AMD Fury X. Can you do that? If you can't, then why make the claim in the first place?
amd cores are clocked high, but not fast
The developers of DayZ "recommend" a AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better. The AMD FX-8350 and FX-9590 both perform significantly better than the Phenom II X4 940.
I'm simply asking you to prove the claims that you made.
Mindlessly repeating rumors or unverified claims is not proof.
A random person randomly saying random things on a random website is not proof either.
You can prove it by showing me actual proof of obvious poor performance, such as stuttering or extremely low frame rates in DayZ using an FX-8350 or FX-9590 with a decent GPU, such as the Titan X, GTX 980 Ti, or Fury X, running the latest version of DayZ with the latest video card drivers using Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 with all updates applied.
So, can you conclusively prove it or not?
DayZ "recommended" system requirements:
OS: Windows 7 SP1
Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM or better
DirectX: Version 11
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/200/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_AMD_Phenom_II_X4_940.html
fx is clocked 33% faster for a 12% increase in performance
and twice the core count is only 79% improvement
fx has more cores, but its module design hurts its performance
