Then google the DeviceID#

http://www.hwcompare.com/16552/radeon-r9-270-vs-radeon-r9-270x/
main diff is the shader speed
270 = 900mhz
270x = 1000mhz
and core name
270 = Curacao Pro
270x = Curacao XT
The best way is to get the core name and speed.
They renamed a lot of cards recently and my two 7970's now show up in GPU-Z as R9 200 series.
My 7970 lists as an AMD Radeon R9 200 / HD 7900 Series (Engineering Sample - WDDM v2.0)
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/details.php?id=999wq
Rebranding is as follows:
7870/7850 -> R9 270
7870 LE ->R9 270X
7950 -> R9 280
7970 -> R9 280X
285 -> 380
290 -> 390
290X -> 390X

run that and see what it shows on the system info or display pages
its far from being a random website just because you arent familiar with it doesnt make it random
EVERYONE in the hardware realm uses it or something similar
Ps, nothing wrong with GPU Z, top right there's a Lookup button push it if you don't like what it says open the tower.
Pss, hmmm, got necro'd June 2015!
