i5 4690k vs i5 4690?
sorry i dont know much about pc game but i was wondering whats the difference between these two? which is better for gaming? should i get an i7 instead?

They're both great for gaming. The big difference between the two is that one is overclockable and one is not.

If you don't feel comfortable with overclocking or just don't plan on it, just go for the i5-4690.

Also, an i7 has very minimal gains over an i5 when it comes to gaming, not worth the extra price for gaming alone.

Yes. But, first, you need to know how to overclock safely (btw overclocking voids warranty) and second, even w/o overclocking i5-4690 has more than enough performance for any modern game.

If you do not want to overclock also consider the Xeon E3-1231 V3. It's like a i7-4770 except with no integrated graphics. It's cheaper though, closer to i5-4690K price.

K-series Intel CPUs are unlocked for overclocking.
Non-K Intel CPUs are locked and can not overclock.

An i5 is the minimum CPU for gaming without bottnecking. Overclocking will help non-gaming applications.
