Randomly going into power save mode
I was playing NBA and I heard some kind of glitchy noise and my PC went into power save mode and didn't come back. I had to reset my computer by holding down the power button as my PC was not responsive for 20 minutes. I had this problem before, but that was a few months ago.

often due to heat or low battery

try cleaning its vents with an aircompressor or cans of compressed air
and make sure its charged and plugged in while gaming

I already cleaned it, and everything seems to be plugged in, so here's to hoping that I wont have another problem like this. Thanks for the info.

It is throttling due to heat; u need to actively monitor CPU/GPU while in-game and see how high it's getting.

If need be, force close the app doing it rather then forcing power off. Avoid any forced power off, especially during an overheating situation, as it would be best to close the app causing it and all the system to then naturally cool off. If you force power off while the system was overheating, u could potential damage something, as now there is no active air cooling to help lower the temps. Plus u might end up corrupting your drive(s) if u keep forcing power off as well.

If an app locks up or slows, making it harder to exit out, press CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to Task Manager and do it from there.

The moniter gets stuck in power save mode, I can't do ANYTHING. I don't really know if I forced power off or not, I just pressed it once and it shut off. I'm not great with PC's.

Check event ID in windows under critical, If you have a recurring Event ID 41 Task 63 you may
have a bigger problem.

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but what's an OS?

Ok Puttycat is it an AMD or Nvidea card you have? And have you recently installed new drivers for it?. Event ID 41 task 63 is a mystery especiallly for random BSOD's & Bluescreens. (Black/blue screens of death) Install this program from 3dguru here's the link.
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Follow the instructions to the letter, it works for both Nvidea & Amd cards. You need to be in safe mode for this to happen but the program will do it for you. Then reinstall latest WHQL drivers NOT beta for your card,
It would be helpful for us guys on here to know what your PC specs are I.E what graphics card (GPU) which processor (CPU) & what power supply you have (PSU) the wattage is important.
If you have changed the graphics card recently it may be that your power supply is inadequate for the task. Another thing you could look at is your power settings in Windows (are they set for sleep after non activity)?

It may also help to check out you HDD drive too whilst your at it here are the instructions for it from microsoft. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors
You may have an SSD but us guys are just shooting in the dark untill we know what sort of setup you have.

I have an Nvidea graphics card, I have downloaded an update for my driver a day before it happened. I honestly have no idea how to get my specs, but i'll google it to find out. And no I haven't changed my graphics card because 1. I don't know how to and 2. It would void my warranty.
