Questions on upgrading GPU to an RX 6600 XT

Hello, so I found that the best deal I can get on a budget would be the RX 6600 XT. This is still significant step-up from my current RX 580 8GB.

However, I'd like to make sure that my CPU is known to work well with the 6600 XT and also anything else I should be concerned with when installing the card.

Firstly, my CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600 (all specs will be at the bottom).

Next, should I use DDU to wipe all drivers before installing the card? Even though it is an AMD card like my current RX 580, should I do DDU anyway? I think they use different drivers.

The 3600 will still be enough for the RX 6600 XT. It's a minor bottleneck at 1080p, but in general should see a decent performance uplift over the RX 580, as in over twice as fast.

As for DDU, even if same manufacturer, it never hurts to download the new drivers, run DDU with the option to Disable Windows from Installing drivers, then install your new ones after replacing the Old with the New. Takes a few minutes and worth the peace of mind.

Yes always use DDU when changing driver or gpu card. It's easy, quick method and helps avoid any problems.

Once you wipe out amd gpu with ddu in safe mode, reboot and download + install the latest drivers for Amd ryzen am4 based chipset and also your Radeon gpu.

heck I did even switch mb from b350 to b550 chipset. system runs just fine

You still want a fresh install of gpu drivers regardless. Sometime features of the new gpu might not show up in the gpu software or the gpu driver just crashing after gpu change-up. It takes maybe 5 mins to run ddu, reboot to safe mode, wipe with ddu, reboot and install latest gpu driver fresh then reboot once more.

You don't really need to use ddu.
On the page:
*DDU should be used when having a problem uninstalling/installing a driver or when switching GPU brand.
*DDU should not be used every time you install a new driver unless you know what you are doing.

I switched out my 1070 for a 3080 and didn't have any problems at all.

I don't know why people are always so set on using DDU, its not needed 99.9% of the time. Skip it unless you have problems which you most likely will not. I've swapped gpus many times, never used DDU and never had a problem.

Thanks, so far its great! Hunt Showdown still runs kind of meh (because its the worst optimized game in history) but its still way better than before. Next to try out other games.
