Download speed [SOLVED]
Hi, I have two computers. One laptop and one desktop computer. I've just build my destop computer and now installing my games from steam on my desktop computer. The problem though is my download speed on my desktop is slow (around 500 kb/s) when my laptop instead gets up to 7 mb/s, I've tried changing my download location and it's even slower. What should I do?? My downloads takes 8 hours to complete! (yes I'm aware 8 bits is 1 byte)

What do you mean? I have a internet usb thing in the back of my computer
I'm guessing you don't have the proper drivers for the network card.

are you useing wifi ? or do you have a wire running from you routor to your pc ?
Okay so the answer is you don't seem to know what wifi the USB device is capable of whether it's G, N, or AC? Is your router G, N, or AC?
I'm using a wifi usb (mine is a Realtek RTL8188EU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter), also I cannot run a wire to my desktop because we do not have a long enough cable to do so. But as I said it works perfect on my laptop to download games on the same server location. I do not know if my router is G N AC, maybe you could write thos in their actual meaning?
802.11G, 802.11N, or 802.11AC. Do you have administrative rights to configure your router?

I guess I have 802.11N then and no I do not have administrative rights to configure my router
Is it yours or your ISPs?
I dont think it is my isp as it works on the other computers, it might be a problem with my desktop computer as my chrome pages are somewhat slow to load in. (it's a isp for the whole family)
How big is the distance between the PC and Router and how many walls does the signal have to go through?

It downstairs so I guess just 1 wooden floor maybe I would say about 8-10 metres. Although it works fine on everyother computers in the house (same distance as well)
