I have my computer with an i7 4790k running on stock cooler. im suddenly very worried of the temps and if it may effect my computer. i have a gtx 980 if that helps. I also have some case fans aswel

Sure, so long as you don't overclock with it.

If it weren't Intel would be up to their necks in RMA CPU's.

I find that Intel stock fans only work well unless you have great overall ventilation. If your 980 doesn't have a blower fan type, the heat is easily trapped within the case.

stock cooler is good for stock speeds

to overclock, get a 212evo or h100+

Why are you so worried? Do you really think Intel just lets the intern design the stock cooler? They're made for mass market so of course it'll work. They're made for--gasp!--stock speeds.

If you have room in the case for 160 mm high heatsink then get Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, it's only $30 but quite effective air cooler. It comes with good quality thermal paste in the package so no need to buy this separately.

Stock coolers are usually crap, especially for demanding tasks like gaming. If you have an office PC then go for it, but in this case no.

Casefans will help improve overall airflow but they won't help that much in terms of CPU cooling. For stock speeds with stock voltages the intel stock cooler will be enough.
But if you are going to overclock which generates more heat then it would be wise to get a good air cooler like the CM 212 EVO / Scythe Mugen Max if your case can fit those. If you'll be doing really high overclocks then an all-in-one water cooling solution will be even better like the Corsair Hydro Series / Cooler Master Nepton Series.

I tested the temps of it at idle, workload (rendering) and gaming

around 30 at idle

And around 70-80 at render.

And about 50 when gaming.

Is this good or should i consider a aftermarket cooler?

I got one, and if your about to game on it you should invest in a inexpansive air cooler

thats fine as long as it isnt throttling
most newer intels throttle at 90-100c

if you want to overclock get a better cooler

I am using the same cooler and I actually got it for $20 on Amazon. It was SUPER easy to install, the baseplate is a square with struts on all four corners for AMD and Intel compatibility, I believe Intel uses the struts and AMD is just the square. The cooler keeps my CPU cool and is very quiet. Even when playing BF4 or Arma 3 the cooler never gets loud.

Honestly, you won't need to overclock with that card. I am using the AMD FX-9590 which has very slightly lower performance than the 4790k and I have absolutely no need to overclock, I get perfect frames on very intensive games.
