Corsair H100i GTX or Noctua NH-D14 or NH-D15
What is a better cooler for an i7-4790k and GTX 970 possibly SLI?

that would be close

dh14 is a massive air cooler, if the case has good airflow it will be as good as the h100

I have a Corsair 750 D airflow edition, Would the dh14 fit? My main concern with it is that it would cover RAM or PCI slots

it will not cover the pci slots
but may cover the ram

if your ram kits do not have tall heatsinks they will be fine

I used the older Corsair H100i (the GTX version has merely cosmetic changes) for my i7 4790K and love it. I have all the heat in the case exhausting through the radiator... yeah, sounds silly but that is because it wouldn't fit up front due to the drive cage. Even with all the heat going through it, I get ~35c idle and ~45-60c depending on the game. Usually around the mid 40's to mid 50's when gaming for long periods of time. Well within the temp parameters. So, if you don't have a drive cage and can put it up front, you can expect ~20-30c idle and ~40-50 underload. Very efficent coolers from Corsair.

I have the NH-D14 its an amazing cooler and im sure you can fit the NH-D14 to your case but its quite heavy almost 1Kg and the frontal fan covers the 1st ram slot at the left of your motherboard but if you have low profile rams you wont have any problems.For the temps i get 38-40 at idle(fans are running at 1245rpm) in gaming 55 max.

I'm kind of hesitant on the Corsair H100i GTX because of the possibility if them leaking liquid onto my componets. Is this a thing that happens or is there a chance of it.

There's always a chance for liquid coolers to leak but they generally dont.

Very unlikely. It is a very popular cooler. It is a closed loop liquid cooler, which is not the same as an open loop. Everything is sealed up nice and good. Also, it is not water that is used. It uses a non-conductive liquid.

Many, many people use them. No need to worry, so long you get a decent brand. Corsair is a great brand.

There's a small temprature difference between NH-D14 and 15, of course 15 is better.It's up to you.

Yes you will NH-D15 doesn't block any PCI slots at all and your Ram's will be fine

Cannot go wrong with an Asus mobo. Z97 board so you can overclock. From that, just pick one that has the feature set you'd like.
