I need a new mouse. Any recommendations?
Currently, I own a standard ibuypower mouse (MOU-IBP-003). It's an excellent mouse, but it has no driver software. I need a mouse that will allow me to independently change X & Y axis sensitivity, and be able to save different profiles for different games, customizable DPI, etc.

I found one mouse that seems to fit all my needs Perixx MX-2000IIB [www.amazon.com]
Unfortunately, it's a laser mouse. I was told to avoid laser mice and strictly look at optical mice. (Agree? Or is laser fine?)

The Razor DeathAdder seems to be a popular choice, but I read plenty of reviews saying that they start malfunctioning in less than a year (specifically, it starts double-clicking when you want to single-click).

A few other things:
-I play at low sensitivities, no mouse acceleration.
-I use something between a palm and claw grip.
-And my max budget is $60, but more affordable is better.

Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

Keep in mind, a mouseis extremely difficult to recommend. It's a very personal item given your hand size, the games you play, your grip type, etc. So you should try them at Best Buy or something if you can.

That's how I got my G502.
Logitech G5 wired hands down.

Thanks, bud. The G502 does look nice.

I would not recommend Razer, even to my worst enemy.

Go with anything Logitech. I use the G600 and love it. I've had it for years and it still works flawlessly.

Lazer vs Optical is merely in people's heads. You will not notice a difference at all. It is all in the DPI and Sensitivity Levels set.

All in our heads, huh? Hmm... maybe I just need to try a laser mouse for myself and see if I get along with it. People seem to be very torn on this whole optical vs laser debate.

I think Logitech is looking like the brand of choice here, though.

The only difference is in how it detects movement. Laser does not like certain surfaces.. and optical does not like certain surfaces either... but I'm sure everyone uses a mouse pad and really should not worry about this. What matters is that the mouse can reach the report rate and dpi that you want.

Trust me, lazer or optical... you will never be able to tell the difference. They are merely two different means to detect the surface under the mouse. Neither causes any extra force due to the non-mechanical light nature of the devices. Both technologies can deliver low and high DPI sensitivity rates and high report rates.

I use the Logitech G600, a lazer mouse... I have my settings usually at 2000 DPI with a shift setting of 400 (for when I need less movement for sensitive movements and the such). 1000 report rate. Yeah, this mouse is a beast. Top DPI that you can reach is 8200... why anyone would use that much is beyond me but it is there if you want it. I also have a few random DPI settings between 400 and 4000 on the other two presets to be ready for any game and be able to change it without leaving the game.

Actually, max DPI on the Razer Deathadder Chroma is 10,000 DPI...Ya, not that anyone will ever go that high, but that's what's it's rated for. Here are the specs and it shows up in Razer Synapse desktop software.

The Chroma is an undeniably popular, highly-rated mouse; but you can't ignore that a significant number of people say they experience problems with it.

The software it comes with does everything I need it to, though, so that makes it an attractive choice.

Well, I play at relatively low sensitivities (1.5 on csgo), between 400 and 800 dpi. Wouldn't an optical mouse be better suited for these lower numbers?

Nope. Both lazer and optical can achieve said DPI.

As I said before, I use 400 DPI for when I need smaller, more accurate movement. On the G600 (a lazer mouse), I could go as low as 200 DPI.

Instead of thinking lazer vs optical... look at each mouse specs individually. One being lazer or optical has nothing to do with specs. There are both lazer and optical mice out there with terrible specs... Don't be fooled by just DPI... also look for the report rate.

The lazer vs optical debate is illogical.
