144hz monitor, is it worth the money?
My B-Day is coming soon so I was thinking about buying a new monitor with a refresh rate of 144hz. I play FPS but mostly CS GO, people say it is important to have a good monitor if you want to get to the highes rank.

I have a problem, I usually get 300+ fps but sometimes I just get random fps drops that go to 60-90 fps. How can I solve this, overwise there wouldnt be a point to buy 144 hz monitor if I dont have over 144 fps.

GPU -> AMD Radeon R9 280x 3gb
CPU -> AMD FX-8350 Eight Cores

Should I get a new monitor or not? And how to stop the fps from dropping? Thanks!

First off, it doesn't matter if you're getting "300 FPS" if your monitor can't physically show it. I'm almost certain you're stuck at 60 like everyone else.

But is it worth it? That's up to you. A lot of people who go 144hz can never go back. It's a luxury, but it won't magically make you MLG pro.

Yeah it's worth it for FPS games, R9 280X is good enough card to run it and it doesnt matter much if fps happens do drop below 144, it doesnt need to be 144 fps all the time to run smooth.

csgo has trouble with amd cpus and lots of players
drops to 60fps or lower should be expected

also depends on the server, if tis a 60tick, over 60hz wont make a diff
if its a 120+tick server, and you can old 120+fps you should get a 144hz monitor

If you can push 144 FPS then yes if not save your dough. I would say if you can push 120FPS get it. I see the difference on a side by side but to get 144FPS I need to do 3x780ti which gets hot. 2xSLI I can push pretty consistant 100-120 in mosty games. the best part about high frame rate is you see parts of the game you do not at low frame rates, BF4 is way cool at 3x780ti.

Thanks. I play BF4 and never get FPS drops and everything works fine but the game I play most is CS GO, and I often get frame drops, I tried everything on the internet and nothing works.
I want to buy a 144hz monitor but there would be no point to do it if I always get frame drops right?

A monitor lasts a long time and you should always buy the best when you get a new one. If you've been running a 60Hz LCD monitor for a long time, you have already been dealing with frame rates that are greater than what the monitor can display. The frame rate depends on your CPU and GPU and the game you're trying to play.

+2....monitors do last a long time. You may not push 144fps now but you might get a new GPU for xmas. I would not buy anything else but a 144hz monitor if you have to buy a new one, buying a 60hz is foolish
