Exactly what 775 motherboard supports a Core 2 Quad Q6600?

I've been looking at eBay listings, but some say Core 2 Duo, others say they only take Pentium. Is there a specific model number or something in the specifications that state which ones actually support a Core 2 Quad?

Well any board that supports LGA 775 should. G31, G41, Z68, there are a few others. Top of the line would be Z68

Some motherboards with 965 chipset should support a Core 2 Quad. Better off going with a G31, P35, P45, G41 or X48 though just to be sure as the majority of those do support the quad cores.

Best source for CPU support is the manufacturer website for the motherboard.

Yeah in all my motherboard searching I've started to remember a few chipset numbers and that sounded kind of advanced.

Z68's aren't Socket 775, they take Core i5/i7 2000 series CPUs!

Much newer era of hardware.

also make sure the the motherboard supports quad core cpus some socket 775 wont support quad core cpus also check the bus speed 1066front side bus 6xxx example 6700 and the newer 1333 front side bus 45nm core 2 quad 9xxx example 9650

DUH! I knew that, that's what I get for multitasking. was working on a spare Z68 ROG board about the time I posted that.

The actual board I used for my Core 2 Quad Q6600 was the EVGA NForce 650i Ultra Socket 775...it was an awesome board BTW.

If you want a good board for overclocking that c2q stay away from the g31,g41 boards.Their bios are very limited for overclocking.Pick a P45,P43,P35,X48 for your build, they have a lot more options in their bios.
