PS3 controller ok on linux, not so much on windows
I'm relatively new to steam, i've been playing almost only on my ps3, but the pc versions are a lot cheaper...

To the point, after installing steam on ubuntu 15.04 64 bits, i tried just because, to use my ps3 controller, it didn't work very well; After a while i tried again, the problem wasn't my controller, it was my wireless keyboard, after removing the usb dongle, the controller worked and was even recognized as a ps3 controller by steam.

Now the question, on win 10, i tried the same, the controller is recognized but does nothing, is there a way to use it out of the without installing anything extra on windows? is windows responsible for the problem? is steam on linux getting more features because of the seam os? Any help or answer is welcome

They work great in Windows OS too; just not Win10 so much yet.
Plus, they won't really work under Windows anyways unless u install a decent 3rd party software so they can work under those games that natively look for "360" controllers
Ok, it's good to know, but i think its really weird it is detected by de OS but doesn't work at all. As i mentioned before, it happened to ubuntu, but i think the support was added at some point.

If anyone has information about this, i would like to know, thanks
Go to Joysticks in Control Panel and disable any detected ones you're not using.
For PS3 controllers on Windows you need a separate bluetooth dongle for just them and another for any other bluetooth devices you have i.e. keyboard and mouse. I was going to get Sony Six-axis controllers that's how I know but my brother gave me his old Sony PSX Dual Shock 1 wired controllers. So I just bought a £20 USB to two Playstation X controllers port convertor.
I'm not using bluethoot, only wired usb, but the problem seems to be Windows by itself, it is not recognized by any program (no even the calibration tool, althought it is listed)
PS4 Controllers work fine on Win10; for PS3 ones, not so much.
PS3 Controllers should work fine on 7/8.1 though.

- Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
- Install "Better DS3" driver/app
Could always get a Mayflash Super Dual Box? Connect Dualshock 1 or 2 controllers to a, costs about £13. Dualshock 2 have the pressure sensitive buttons.
