Well, for one, I like the fan curves that came standard with my motherboard. They are effective. There is a quiet mode, standard mode, performance mode, and full speed mode. But after talking with my Dad, he told me he would rather just have the fans running at 100% to keep the thermals as low as possible, and I have concluded that I will do the same thing. Things have been running great and my thermals are great, so I will keep doing what I am doing. Noise doesn't bother me, so if I have a need for the fans to be low, I will just use one of the predefined profiles. I do use custom profiles on my GPUs though, so my GPU fans don't always run at 100, but I don't mind my CPU and System fans to be at 100.
Absolutely, you are right. But I think I will mess around and create myself some custom profiles. Maybe one where if the temps are below 50 fans will turn off, and turn back on when they reach 50. IDK, we shall see.
So if your fans can keep the computer at room temperature at 25% spin keeping them at 100% spin is just uneccesary energy use (small really, 12V x like 0.1amps) and the maximum possible wear on the fans.
If the computers at max working load then thats where the fans will end up anyway. Id just keep the fan curve on standard so it can go its full operating range.
With more fans, you don't need to run 100% for the case fans, I normally run mine at 30%
Apart from slowly killing your fans and becoming deaf for no reasons, 25° is useless. Being in the 30s is more, way more than acceptable.
Idle temps mean nothing, only thing that matters is load temps
You can idle at sub 30, but go up to 100 degrees in heavy loads
I got rid of harddrives and replaced them with SSD to reduce the noise in my PC.
I can't imagine running my fans on Max speed 24/7.
With a proper fan curve the fans won't constantly change speed unless you have to start up some high intensity process and then quit it a moment later. But if you play a demanding game the temps will just go up to a certain point where the fan can handle it and it'll be at that speed until the person is done with gaming.
The fans on the PC my Dad is using are all pretty old. The 200mm fans are from 2012. They have been running at 100% since then, and they are still tip top. And except for one, I think the other ones are all over 6 years old. And they have been running at 100 pretty much the whole time. And they are still tip top. And as far as noise. Fan noise never really bothered me, or my Dad. Unless it is a loud whining or grinding or something like that, which these fans don't do, the noise isn't bothersome.
But as far as my PC, I will use custom profiles as I see fit, but my Dad said he wants to conitnue using the fans at 100%. I say go for it. If one, or multiple, end up crapping the bed, we will just replace it, or them.
Pretty much what I figured. I mean, even if a fan dies, it is not like they are super expensive. I can just replace them.
