GPU usage capped at 100% on fortnite causing low fps with high end system

Last week I noticed my fps start to become absoutley awful after a fortnite performance update, i installed the latest driver and it seemed to fix it at the time, but recently its back to awful again, i noticed that my gpu usage is at 100% and stays at 80-90 fps, however if i tab out (causing my gpu usage to go to 50% my fps in game goes to 200 which is my fps cap. Im wondering if theres anything i can do to lower the gpu usage? It never seemed to be this high used to be like 50%. Not sure if this is a game issue or an issue with my system.

PC specs:
I7 9700K
GTX 1080
16GB 3200Mhz ram

What screen resolution and refresh rate?
1080 GPU is outdated, DDU wipe anything to do with GPUs on your system via Safe Mode, using the DDU app. Then clean install (after ddu cleaning + reboot) older driver such as one from 456.xx or 457.xx

Why do you have a 200 FPS Cap Limit? Just cap the FPS to your Refresh Rate.
Set NVIDIA CP to Vertical Sync = Fast.
Run game in Full Screen Mode.

Pretty sure I have found the issue, the issue started occurring last Wednesday/Thursday and there was a Intel driver system update (see able in my windows update history under driver updates) is there a way i can uninstall this update and go back to the previous driver?
Have 2 windows updates to do gonna do them now see if that helps.

Don't allow Win10 WU Services to handle or update Drivers, period.
Handle all drivers all on your own.

disable windows from updating drivers

I meant they are outdated to where newer drivers simply aren't made for them.
The newer drivers make them perform worse.

Because it's two gens old. Everything except a RTX3080/3090 or a 4k$+ HP/Alienware PC is junk/worthless, youre better of with a basic one and GFNow/Stadia. At least that's what i've heard.

I bet you heard it from same people who think Hyper 212 has a better performance then D12.
A clear advice dont lisen to these voices :)

Btw a 4k $ hp/ailenware pc was always junk/worthless because you get hardware for 2k and 2k for nothing. Something like 1080 is still a very strong 1080p card.

the new drivers support the older gpus, but the driver has a larger menu of commands that the older gpus do not support

it can work, but its more overhead that cant be used

stick to the driver made at or just after launch of the next gen gpu
any later and the driver is more taylored to the next gen gpus

532.03 works very well for games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, GTAV, RDR2 for GPUs such as GTX 900, 10, 16 series. I have to say though, the EPIC games store client is more of a reason to see issues with higher then normal cpu and gpu usage. It's been bugged like this for quite some time. More so for older hardware.
