Either 970 for 1080p -or- go to 980 Ti for 1440p and above
GTX 970 are around $300 range now with all the sales going on.
Depends on the game/setting/res with respects to your bottleneck/hold it back question.
Nvidia GPU work well with AMD CPU?
Ya ^ less overhead, like that http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/6142/2/gta-v-performance-review-take-3-how-well-does-the-game-perform-with-an-amd-cpu-testnresultsn--1920x1080-medium
http://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/2182-fallout-4-cpu-benchmark-huge-performance-difference
At 1080p with an 8350/980ti maxed 60fps all the time isn't going to happen.
That link should give you an idea of where you're at.
http://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/2177-fallout-4-pc-video-card-fps-benchmark-all-resolutions
This benchmark says otherwise. The 970 and 980ti at 1080p Runs at 60fps almost all the time unless you were taking my CPU into account.
Intel i7-5930K CPU That's what they're using there ^. You have an FX8350 totally different than an Intel i7-5930K CPU.
Read the fine print I guess.
That CPU has only 3.5 ghz and 6 cores where mine had 4ghz and 8 cores. Do AMD processors just suck?
I have the same as you FX8350 slight overclock 4.4ghz on all cores and a r9 280x aka 7970ghz.
Some say amd sucks but it's more that the current intel i5s and up can do almost twice the work per core which makes intel better that way for certain games like we find with fallout 4, dying light and gta5 but it doesn't mean amd FX is incapable it's just we can't expect it to be the same as intel.
Our only choice is to keep using the 8350 until DX12 finally hits the gaming scene and maybe things will change or jump ship and move over to i5-i7 intel camp.
I dunno what you paid for the 8350 but I got mine for $150cdn and don't mind dropping the settings a bit to stretch it out for another year or so. The 970 would buy you some more performance better than the 7970 but not as much as if it was paired with an i5 4690.
yes amd cpus just suck
fx core deisng was a step backwards from aii/pii
fx uses modules
each modules has 2 cores, 1x l2 cache bank, and a single fpu
the l2 cache is just fast enough for 1 core, not 2, and the 4 fpus in fx8-9 cannot keep up with an i5
they try to make up for poor core performance with moar corz and higher clocks
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/368/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4460.html
i5 4460 is 30% faster while clocked 20% lower
fx multithread is only 13% higher with 2x the core count
So my best bet would actually be to upgrade to an i7.... Then get a new GPU. Although for all I know just the CPU alone might make my over all performance better and I won't need to upgrade my GPU at all. It just pisses me off when I'll be looking in one direction in fallout 4 with 60 fps and the I'll turn around where there's all kinds of buildings and stuff and I'll get down to like 18 fps sometimes....
Currently playing Fallout 4 with a FX8350 and a EVGA GTX 760 4gb on ultra with shadows on medium running at 60 -120 fps, so yeah AMD sucks.... Dont be fooled in here by the I fanboys.. AMD will still run great for you..
Yeah you're right AMD is horrible and couldnt possibly run game like Fallout 4 on ultra on a old GTX 760 and hold 60 fps tight could it ?

Nuff said...
pii 945 or 2nd gen i5
fx8350 is slightly better than 945 core performance
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/120/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_AMD_Phenom_II_X4_945_%2895W__rev._C3%29.html
11% faster with a 30% higher clock rate
Blah blah , my point being fx8350 has no issues running games At 1080p and depending on the rest of the system from very high to ultra . I could care less what bogus thread or outdated software Benchmark you bring into the discussion, they mean nothing . It's pretty amazing that my garbage 8350 and close to being outdated 760 have very little issues running the newest of games on ultra ...
