My H80 failed after about 6-8 months. They replaced it and it ran fine ever since, which the replacement has now exceeded it's warranty length period. I still have that build and it still running very well. My latest build I've had since around the release of the FX-9 series CPUs (has an FX-8350 in it) and with an H110i it has also lasted and done very well.
So yes, failures happen...
If you do get a whole new AIO Cooler, the "GT" ones are now a bit dated, and the "GTX" are much better designs overall and the costs are roughly the same. So I would suggest getting a GTX version if u going towards an H100 or H110 of any kind.
Also be mindful of where you plug in the power connector for the main pump if using Motherboard 3 or 4 pin headers. Your pump should use the Rear-most connector on your board (should be labeled as Power) as this one tends to not have any BIOS or Software capable ways of controlling the speed on this connection and that's what you want. You want the pump able to run at full speeds all the time. The pump should however take into consideration of system loads and CPU temps and then regulate the pump speed all on it's own.

the pump on the H110 always ran at 100% speed. so did my fans. but since last week my games were crashing. and i found out that the temps were to blame. before it always ran nicely at 60c under load.
But yea I see what u mean. Such PITA to do RMA.
But with Corsair, u never had to wait that long anyways depending what their options are.
With brands like Corsair & WD; u often do have options for RMA where they send you your replacement right away, in exchange for payment info (like a Credit Card) and then this way you get your replacement very quick turn-around. Then u have like 15-30 days or something to ship them your old one. Then they only would charge u anything if you didn't ship them your old part.
But yea that may depend on Country/Region too. I know those two brands do that kind of service for North America.
i don't live in the states. so i'm expecting it would take longer. actually i don't have a cooler laying around. because my i7 4790k came without a cooler.
For purchase of anything that is "liquid" like an AIO Cooler, please ensure to purchase local or purchase via Ground Shipping method. If they ship these via Air Freight, they often will get damage because of being in extreme cold for extended periods.
But u can still contact Corsair and see if they will replace your old one; then use that for backup purposes, or other system, or sell it.
Hope it lasts u many years.
Cheers!
If your cooler is old, it may just be a matter of replacing the thermal paste as it dries up over time.
I've tested them many times in the shop even with poor pastes and/or had them in customer's machines filled with dust/debris. Still never had temps that high.
The failing pump is usually the reason; AIO's were never meant to last beyond 3-5 years.
its being shipped from a online shop in my country. so a driver will deliver my package :)
I'm using the thermal paste from noctua, which are one of the best around for its price.
- Noctua
- Cooler Master
- Arctic Silver
- Arctic Cooling
exactly. and i'm pretty sure i have applied the thermal paste correctly. because i have build so many PC's in the last year, that i know how to apply thermal paste by now.
but i'm suprised it lasted 3 years so far. i hope the new Kit would last me just as long, if not longer :)
it should arrive tomorrow. and can't wait to install it !!!
Not true. If completely dried little heat is transfered and you can see temps like this. Could have been improperly applied by Corsair, as good as their products are. I've seen this.
I went with the H100i because I thought it would be cool to use the monitoring software and I hated the software from the moment I opened it up. I already have temp and fan monitors running and the Corsair software didn't offer anything else useful.
The cooler works good, I just would have gone with the H105 since it has a thicker radiator. I opted for the H100i because of the software (which isn't included in the packaging. You have to track it down online and it's just another annoyance.
H100 & H105 = 240mm
H110 = 280mm
