As a starter its ok..
But if you add on a dedicated GPU to an APU it can lose a little performance..

Something with a dedicated GPU would be best..

Do you have a budget?

Not the greatest for gaming. Ideally you'd be better off with a Pentium or i3 alongside a dedicated card like the GTX 750ti.

For extreme budgets (like £300 or less) however, you could make a "gaming pc" with one, but don't expect to play the latest titles. Low - medium in most games as well.

They also make excellent HTPCs and are also decent for general usage.

Another option is the X4 860K (Overclocked) and a strong delecated GPU that's what I run in my rig with a Evo 212 Cooler at 4.5Ghz it's same as the APU you mentioned but has no onboard graphics but as a bonus you can overclock up to 4.7Ghz I have it paired with a 4GB GTX 960 and it's not flinched at game other than Arkham Knight which runs like crap on anything and everything. I'd also consider a i3 as well but Pentium is off the table as a lot of recent games need at least 4 logical threads to even work.

thats the same apu with its gpu disabled

the gtx960 is a higher end gpu that is being held back by the apus lack of performance

if you ever plan on adding a dedicated gpu i3 or i5 is a much better starting point

It does surprisingly well. I used it for HL2, Portal 2, Serious Sam 3 and more. A bit slow for Shadow of Mordor. Later I added a Gtx 960 as Ddr3 ram for graphics can only you so far. It is a great apu to grow with.

The A10 is a good CPU. I did build a few rigs with last gen A10 for friends and they are very happy with them.
