Try changing back to another (such as 2.1) and apply. Then redo it again, but as 5.1
And do sound tests with Speaker Fill Off. Some tests might not work since Speaker Fill forces 2 Channel to fulfill your 5.1
When Vista/Win7 came out, many like Creative had issues, especially with Surround Sound and Perk Settings all working + sticking after reboots.
If Realtek then it is onboard audio yes?
What Motherboard or Laptop model is it?
how is it connected to your amp/speakers ect..
worked the other day, tweeked the setting from 5.1 to stereo to deal with the fallout 4 no sound bug on 5.1 and higher
untweaked it today (reversed exactly what I did) and nadda
plugged in
Black = speaker rear
pink = csub
green = line out (in?)
amp connects to pc through those
the 5 remote speakers connect via tinned 2 conductor wire that clamps into the back and into the amp
install them in order

If you experience any issues with your Z906, you may want to reset the unit back to the factory defaults.
To reset your Z906 to the factory default settings:
Power your Z906 off using the Power button on the Control Console.
While in the "Off" state, press and hold down the Input button for eight (8) seconds. You'll see several lights on the Control Console light up and there will be a popping sound from the speakers.
The factory default setting are:
Volume = 30% (3 lights around the volume knob)
Subwoofer, Center, and Rear = 50% (5 lights around the volume knob when channels are selected using the Level button)
See Knowledge Base article 23022 for more information.
Input = 1
Stereo Effect = 3D
Once in the factory default state, the Control Console should display these settings.
