Cheap gaming laptop? (prefer less than $700 for both) Or gaming desktop?
does anyone know any good gaming laptops under $700? I'm thinking about getting the Acer Aspire E5-573G-59C3 15.6" but I wanted to hear from everyone else and see what they think and know about cheap gaming laptops. I'm starting to also change my mind and maybe even think about getting or building a desktop.

Laptop:
I don't need a hardcore gaming laptop (not sure about the desktop since the one I have right now is ancient af)

I just need something that can play games like TF2, Shelter 2, Minecraft, Garrys Mod, ect. and also do other things like run video making software and painting software. (I plan to buy more games once I get a better laptop/desktop since the one I have right now can barley run TF2 without turning on low graphics)

ROFL.

No such thing as a cheap gaming laptop.

For $700 you could build a desktop with four times the frame rate.

Cheap or Gaming, pick one.

I'd pick gaming if I had the time XD but I don't really need a hardcore gaming PC like Alienware since I hardly ever have time to play games anyway unfortunately. I plan to use it for other things too.

Alienware are a terrible over priced choice and low quality.

I would never recommend an Alienware.

Why do you want a laptop?

Is it for school? Lemme guess. So you can carry it to classes and play games in your games. Well, that's not how it works.

Gaming laptops are big and clunky. They're not even meant to be carried around like a book either.

Either buy a laptop for school or build a desktop which you can use for both games and school.

Looking at the sort of games you play, you don't need a gaming laptop. A 2014/15 laptop with an i5/i7 CPU would do just fine and fall way way under your budget.

It'd also have a much better battery life and not weigh a ton.

Under $700 will be tough if you want a dedicated graphics card so you can play more than just indie games. Other commenters are right that a desktop is the best choice, but if you ned something you can move around with, acer, lenovo, and asus are good brands. I have a lenovo y50 (I got it for right under $1000) and it works great.

Yea I know gaming laptops are pretty big so I dont think I would want to carry it around at school for 4 hours. I did that once and I regretted it. But I don't have the space for a desktop sadly.

For $700? Not going to happen.

You'd be better off building your own. Don't have enough space for one? Baloney. Build a small form factor PC.

I'll check out the parts and see what I can make out of them.

That probably is a better buy when you think about it since you can expand on a desktop and not a laptop. I'll just have to clean my messy desk off that's full of stuff to make space XD

Clean that desk! lol you'd definitely like a desktop over a laptop. For around $700, you could build a really nice starter PC.

PCpartpicker will guide you to some great places. Newegg, NCIX, Outlet PC, SuperBiiz, and many more. Even Amazon is a good place, just make sure that it is actualy from Amazon or that the company that it is from has decent reviews to avoid headaches. Micro Center is awesome if you have one near you.

Thanks! I've already checked Newegg and NCIX but I'll try the other places too.:steamhappy: Unfortunately, the nearest micro center near me is the one in CA Orange County and thats pretty far even where I live.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to Micro Center.. not very close at all haha

I have quite a bit of experience with Newegg, NCIX, Outlet PC, Superbiiz, and Amazon.

About the only complaint I would have with any of them is that Superbiiz usually takes awhile to actually ship. Keep that in mind when ordering from the rest that usually ship withing one business day. You'll get all your parts in like 3 days, except for that oh-so-important motherboard that you bought from SuperBiiz... not a huge issue but it can happen lol
