Is the Geforce GTX 950 powerful?

well.. i use GTX 950... and i play CS:GO, COD:BO2, DOTA2 on medium-high performance... i got 60-100 fps

Check drivers, maybe low date, because with gtx950 must be 150+ easely.

Generally x60 cards and up are the ones with gaming in mind.

Although that doesn't mean a 950 isn't a powerful card.

Cheaper lower segment of the medium class. I would say GTX 960 is the true medium class, but the GTX 950 also offers quite the bang.

i got a geforce gtx 950 gaming 2gb, i run counter strike global offensive on ultra graphics at 200-250 fps and on the witcher 3 (medium graphics and atm this game almost has the best graphics in the world) i get 50-100 fps easily

for upgrade i would say maybe the 960 or the 970 prob is the 970-980 are WAY more expensive

As of 2015, there is no reason to go lower as a GTX 950 from Nvidia, or R7 370 from AMD if you want play modern games.

If you buy a very cheap card, modern games like Witcher 3, GTA V, Fallout 4 will not run or very badly. So if you want play those, you need eventually to buy such a real gaming card anyways.

Or if you want play those on super cheap cards, wait 10 years. In the year 2025 even office level cards will be able to run those games

My 680 died recently so I picked up a 950 to replace it. It was pretty close in performance according to video card benchmark dot net. I have an I5 2500k @ 3.3, 8gb ram and game at 1080p. It seems to do ok on the few games I've tried so far although Borderlands 2 did have slow downs with everything maxed. Turning down the draw distance did help.

I kind of wish I had payed extra for a 960 now. It really depends on your budget. If you can afford a 970 that should be a pretty good bump in performance and will destroy 1080p games for some time. 950 is a good card but don't expect to play current games at max settings at over 60 frames, they will be closer to 30.

So this could run modern games.

If you can afford 970 that is a great option. If not, 960 is still a good choice. No trouble playing newer games but you might not be able to max out everything for the more demanding titles and stay above 60 fps.

GTX 970 is stronger than a GTX 960. though technically speaking if you want to be picky a GTX 960 is a rebranded GTX 680 at least as far as the spec numbers go.

Yeah, my mate bought a AMD radeon R7 240 and tried to play th Witcher 3, and it cripplesd his card.
