Been getting ASUS Anti Surge issues since I installed my new GPU
After I installed my new GPU (GTX 970) my computer started closing and rebooting spontaniously whenever I play a game that lower end PC's can't run, for example, Star Citizen. I've read that the Anti Surge is over sensitive and it may just be a case of I need to disable it, but I'd rather get some advice first. The exact message I get is "Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. ASUS Anti-Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit! Press F1 to Run SETUP".

My Specs
NVIDIA GTX 970 OC
Intel i5 3570k
16gb RAM
750w PSU

what psu are you using?
Can't remember the exact name, but the model number is 750TE-BR, I think it may be time to get a new one regardless of whether or not the PSU is the issue.
If it was anti-surge relating, the system should have issues and warnings when booting; not having conflicts/issues at random or after within the OS for a lengthy time.

I would suggest a few things first.
- try another wall socket and/or PSU power cable (use sockets and cables that exceed 10amps)
- if surge protector (which are usually all BS) or power strip; try a different one.
- try another PowerSupply (PSU) and ensure yours it more than enough for your combination of hardware.
- remove the new GPU and blow out any dust from the system; then re-seat your GPU firmly as well as needed PCIE GPU power cables.
- many GPUs have anti-static films at various points on the GPU card to keep certain areas scratch-free during shipping and when being newly installed; Please ensure all those clear-coated firms are removed prior to hardware power-on.
I put my old GPU (GTX 660) back in and everything is working fine, does that mean the 970 could be faulty or does it just mean it's likely the PSU?
660 or 660 Ti? As the Ti is nearly the same TDP as a GTX 970
But if u have a heavily OC'ed 970 model; or one like Gigabyte that uses 2x 8-pin PCIE power connectors; those 970 might use quite a bit more max power (TDP)

And when u switch GPUs, please clean install the NVIDIA driver suite.
I build recently a pc and had similar problem with new 650w power supply (r380 i5 6600).
Changed PSU and everything now working.

Try to check voltages in bios 12v 5v 3.3v (max 5% diff is allowed).

i'd get a new PSU.. the one you have has bad user feedback from a few sites. it's literally a generic 30$ PSU. who knows how many Amps are even on the +12V rail.

A GeForce GTX 970 - needs atleast 28 amps on the +12v

EDIT* - it's +12V @ 37A

This would suit your system quite well.
