We need a way numerical unit of measurement to define how powerful a graphics card is.
I think we can all agree that finding the parts we need to upgrade our rig is a hassle. There should be a way to just sort parts on the market by their power. As I look throgh the countless listings on Amazon, most of the time I can't tell whether using one card would be improvment or a downgrade. Just thinking about it gives me a migraine.

Floating-point performance GFLOPS + Pixel Rate + Shading Units + Render Output Processors + Texture Mapping Units + Clock Speed MHz + Memory Size + Memory Bandwidth - Noise Level - Heat Output...

Hmm, there's quite a few factors I consider.

ps: Amazon is probably the worst possible website for PC component specs comparison.

Comparing video cards with a single number is like comparing cars by rpm.

You already had it in Vista, you just couldn't see through all that hatred and the feature was canned by the time win8 was out.
gflops is the best way to judge cpus by a single number
slower cores/ram with lower core count will be much lower glops

hwcompare is good for comparing amd vs amd or nvidia vs nvidia
but their designs are too differnt to compare amd vs nvidia by specs
