DisplayPort on 144hz monitor, can only choose 60hz?
Why does this happen http://imgur.com/xSONIyT

When I look in my DP connection in Ultra HD I can't go above 60 hz, has to go to either custom or the PC tab down lower. the 144 hz option isn't even listed in there, which means I have to force it through custom.

Yet when I try through the DVI connection, everything is listed as it should be, never has issues, and works like a charm.

Got GTX 970 and Asus VG248QE

Go into the ASUS monitor OSD menu and change the Display Port version mode.
Then reboot the machine and Windows should now allow 144Hz. If Windows > Screen Resolution > Advanced does not have that as an option, do it from NVIDIA Control Panel.

Please know 144Hz is basically limited on that display to 1080p
If you use NVIDIA DSR to go above 1080p, u will not be able to use above 60-75Hz range of refresh.

Ive chosen to DP version in the Asus OSD menu, rebooted and i can only have 1080 PC at 144hz 1080p is only 50, 59 and 60hz. Display Port should easily be able to use 1080p at 144hz.

its just confusing as hell for me

Doing it from NVIDIA Control Panel, should be no issues at all.

I did that! Worked perfect. After doing this (scroll down and choose PC-1920x1080, and then 144 hz option) (got max 100 hz as option when choosing Ultra HD, HD SD) now OSD on my Acer Predator XB240H also show 1920x1080 144 hz.

On Windows 10, I had to go into the monitor properties, then monitor settings to change the refresh rate to 144 Hz, Nvidia Control Center wouldn't allow me for some reason.

Then try Custom Resolution in NVIDIA Control Panel.

Overall when NVIDIA Control Panel is not showing those 120 / 144 Hz options; either your Monitor side settings are not configured for that in the Monitor's OSD Menu; or you may have a Driver related issue. Win10 will push updates that you don't want; its just how it is. This often may mean running DDU App, wipe your GPU Drivers and redo them fresh again.

For 144 Hz you have to...

1. Make sure you are NOT using HDMI... you will need DisplayPort or DVI

2. Go to the NIVIDIA Control Panel (you can easily access this by right clicking on your desktop)

3. At the top of the NIVIDIA Control Panel will say "1. Select the display you would like to change." make sure you are on the correct display.

3. Under "2. Choose the resolution" on the NIVIDIA control panel, you will need to go to the "Resolution:" section and scroll down to the section titled "PC" (NOT "Ultra HD, HD, SD") from there you can click 1920 x 1080 and the Refresh rate options to the right will change and you will now have the option for 144Hz

HDMI 2.0 supports 144Hz which is found on his videocard.

The monitor doesn't.

This helped a lot thanks.

One question though. Why only works in the "PC" section and not in "Ultra HD, HD, ...". Is there any difference between the two that it only lets you choose from that section only or is something that doesn't really matter. Been trying to find an answer but no luck.

Thanks in advance, bye.
