DisplayPort on 144hz monitor, can only choose 60hz?
Why does this happen http://imgur.com/xSONIyT

When I look in my DP connection in Ultra HD I can't go above 60 hz, has to go to either custom or the PC tab down lower. the 144 hz option isn't even listed in there, which means I have to force it through custom.

Yet when I try through the DVI connection, everything is listed as it should be, never has issues, and works like a charm.

Got GTX 970 and Asus VG248QE

The Asus OSD Overdrive functions have been disabled since Windows 1809 and never enabled again. So you always need to use software with those screens.

For 144 Hz you have to...

1. Make sure you are NOT using HDMI... you will need DisplayPort or DVI

2. Go to the NIVIDIA Control Panel (you can easily access this by right clicking on your desktop)

3. At the top of the NIVIDIA Control Panel will say "1. Select the display you would like to change." make sure you are on the correct display.

3. Under "2. Choose the resolution" on the NIVIDIA control panel, you will need to go to the "Resolution:" section and scroll down to the section titled "PC" (NOT "Ultra HD, HD, SD") from there you can click 1920 x 1080 and the Refresh rate options to the right will change and you will now have the option for 144Hz

I've tried to do that, but when I apply and confirm it, it just goes back to the Ultra HD,HD, SD 60hz, and so on.... I can't try it all day but is just doesnt apply at all... Help please ?

On Windows 10, I had to go into the monitor properties, then monitor settings to change the refresh rate to 144 Hz, Nvidia Control Center wouldn't allow me for some reason.
This fixed my issue, thanks friend.

Just switched cards from 970 -> 2080Ti and cables from Dual Link DVI -> DisplayPort.

Go into the ASUS monitor OSD menu and change the Display Port version mode.
Then reboot the machine and Windows should now allow 144Hz. If Windows > Screen Resolution > Advanced does not have that as an option, do it from NVIDIA Control Panel.

Please know 144Hz is basically limited on that display to 1080p
If you use NVIDIA DSR to go above 1080p, u will not be able to use above 60-75Hz range of refresh.

THANKS!

IVE CHANGES THE DP MODE IN MONITOR OSD FROM 1.1 to 1.2 AND IT WORKED!!! youre my hero!

Doing it from NVIDIA Control Panel, should be no issues at all.
In Nvidia control panel it only appears 120hz when my monitor is 144 and with hdmi it appears 144hz in control panel. Why am i not allowed to use 144hz on display port?

Possible that your DP cable is only rated up to version 1.2 and not 1.4

in nvidia control panel, change res, scroll down to pc, not uhd/hd/sd
then it will have higher refresh options for those res options
