Wired PS5 Dualsense controller frequently disconnecting from Steam

I've been using the Dualsense controller without issue for a couple months now, mainly on FFXIV. Out of nowhere in the past week the controller will disconnect from Steam while I'm playing then reconnect a few seconds later. Again, this is a wired connection, not bluetooth. I tried using my second Dualsense controller and it has the same problem, so seems less likely that the controller itself is the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? It's incredibly obnoxious.

Either the USB port at either end, or faulty USB cable.

Buy thick cables, never thin ones. Don't pull on them or create sharp bends in them.
