It's not really going to make anyone better at the game. If you're bad at it, you're bad at it. Changing displays from IPS or VA to TN isn't going to make you better unless the ghosting is so bad that you literally can't play fast games on the previous panel.
You can clearly see the differences above 75Hz at 120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz, 240Hz, 360Hz, etc. I daily drive 240Hz and 144Hz panels right next to each other, and there's a difference. The closer you are to the refresh rate you're running, the smoother it ultimately looks; if you're only getting 60 FPS, you'll never make proper full use out of a 120Hz+ display.
heloo,
why does BenQ sell TN panel ZOWIE monitors? they are the really fast. the faster the panel, the better the gaming monitor. thats my opinion and i think it is true. Benq ZOWIE i always have been dreaming. i hate the glow effect of ips panels. fast and not "overproduced" is TN to me, isnt it?
for example: ZOWIE XL2411K 144Hz 24 Zoll eSports Monitor
e-Sports is a tiny fraction of the gaming scene. It's better to have IPS than TN because there's far more good games out there that will benefit more from better visual quality from the display than just speedy response times, hence why VA even has a spot in the stack for slower and immersive titles since curved VA panels can actually be great for some titles like that.
For most gamers that play a bit of everything, IPS is ideal, hands down. If you're actually serious about e-Sports and have somewhere to go with it and want TN, you may as well go for the absolute best TN panels with 360+ Hz.
Monitors, keyboards, headphones, or any other 'gaming' trinket are sponsored items.
That's why they use it, feeds on the 'pros use it, so it's good' mentality.
So, you've got no source, alright.
YOU can't click that fast, doesn't mean it's not possible. I can't fly a plane, or swim, doesn't mean it's physically impossible.
No, but about ~20hz is physically possible.
Phone displays do make a difference past FHD, I have a phone with QHD, and it's a much better viewing experience.
Why would making higher pixel count displays (increasing production costs) make them more money? If people wouldn't see a difference, it wouldn't be a main point of marketing.
Because they're easier to produce than IPS displays...
Faster only matters to an extent, read my first post for more information on pixel response time and how it relates to hz.
Think and fact are two different things. Zowie displays are good, but they're by no means the best. They're decent display that's gaming oriented.
I don't like IPS glow/BLB either, but not every single panel has it the same.
Actually, most people will buy a TN panel, because they don't know about monitors, and will buy cheap 144hz displays, which will be exclusively TN panels.
All monitors will have tearing if you aren't synced (via Vsync/Fast sync, Freesync/Vesa Adaptive sync, or G-sync.)
If you have no sync, you will always get one frame overwriting the other at some strange point (like the middle of the screen), this will cause a tear line.
It doesn't matter what FPS you get, it will always happen.
The only way you can negate this without sync, is to increase FPS to silly numbers (500+FPS), this will allow the differences between frames to be tiny, so you will experience less of the tearing effect, sometimes removing it (because there's basically no difference in frames.)
It would still tear under fast movements though.
This is why Freesync/G-sync is an important feature on modern monitors. I wouldn't buy one without it. It adds no increase in latency (a fraction of a frames latency, you will NEVER notice.)
Very few VA panels actually keep up with IPS
Averages for true response times on TN, IPS, VA respectively: 5ms, 7ms, ~10ms
