Steelseries SIberia 150 USB connection problems
I got this headset the other day as a christmas preasant, it was working fine until i loaded up gta v or tf2, it keeps connecting then disconnecting itself very abruptly, around every 2 seconds, its impssible to play these games with the headset. It works fine for other games, however. Help would be great :(

*UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 2017*

I just want to say thankyou to everyone that has taken time to read and add to this thread in order to help others fix this common issue, it seems lots of people have this problem and i dont think even steelseries know whats up with the headset, so thanks once again to everyone that contributed to this post <3

I wrote to SteelSeries support and i was provided a reply by their staff. I updated this firmware by following the instructions vermabtim and my issues have been resolved. The headset no longer disconnects.

Here is what the support professional from SteelSeries gave me..

//We've been working on a way to distribute the firmware update that fixes this, but haven't been able to put together something that works 100% of the time. We do have a program that will update the headset's firmware, but you may need to run it several times before the update is successful.

You can download the update tool here: https://steelseries.box.com/s/j9zjkbnbsu7nxmwulekv31vkfvlqlq1a

Follow the instructions below to use it. Please do not redistribute this link or the tool itself.

1) Connect your Siberia 150
2) Extract the Release folder from the .zip
3) Run Siberia150FwUpdate.exe
4) Press the Update button
4a) If the firmware update fails or it's unable to open the device, reconnect your Siberia 150 and then close and re-run the application. You MUST reconnect the headset or it will fail until you do. At most this should only take a few attempts before the update is successful.

You should get a success message if the update is successful.//

For my it says: "failed to open siberia 150"
I have my headset turned on and extracted the file.
The bar is empty everytime.
Do you know whats the problem?
I finally found an answer, I had the exact same issue, go in to task manager, find "razer VAD streaming" force close it, that's it

If that is the issue, that particular process should have a Service; go into Services and set it to Disabled. Now it wont come back on, period. Unless maybe the app it goes with is reinstalled and that might re-enable that windows service.
siberia150fwupdate.exe file gives me a fail every single time. besides this thread is super old. I just bought this headset yesterday I'm about to return it tomorrow. what a piece of junk.

I did some browsing around in my computer and found that this problem was easily fixed after I went in and approved this device(steel series 150) to work with all applications. This is not my own page but I found someone who posted this http://winaero.com/blog/change-app-permissions-in-windows-10/ if you are getting working headphones and no mic output try adding it to permissions.

That should only be needed for Store/Tile Apps.
Desktop Apps are un-affected by those settings and have their own configuration options within each app.
Firmware update that steelseries support provided helps somewhat but doesnt completely solve
the problem. Headphones starts to disconnect and reconnect eventually again. I also have asus p6tse mobo so could it be some kind of compatibility issue with some mobos. One thing is for sure steelseries doesnt know how fix the issue since these headphones has been out for almost 2 years now.
So i have had the same problems for about 6 months now and have played with a lot of the settings and found out that windows puts some sort of custom sound file on the headset. I am not sure what its called but while i was playing around in the control panel when it was disconnecting and reconnecting i got a windows message saying that there was a error in the custom sound file would u like to retry the setup. by pressing no it sets it to default. after that it works flawlessly.
Returning back to this thread after a while, and the following seems to work:

Messaggio originale di Carova_:
hey ther i fix it (windows 10)
step 1: go to search and type in printer and clik on device and printers
step 2: right clik on SteelSeries Siberia 150 and then on soundssettings
step 3: then right clik on headphone now you get a list of stuff and you need to clik on characteristics (or whatever its calld)
step 4: go to advanced
step 5: now you see exclusive mode with 2 squares which are checked
step 6: un-checked them and press apply

it workt for me
sorry for my bad English

After what I previously said about just restarting the PC, the headset started disconnecting right after connecting a device or starting a game. It was a huge pain in the 𝒶𝓈𝓈, but this seems to have fixed it for now.

EDIT: Nevermind.

The firmware update file worked for me first time on windows 10, just follow the instructions. Although it did hang on an empty bar for a little while before it kicked in, so just leave it to do its thing. Make sure the headset is showing as connected in Engine App first.

NOTE: The issue this fixed for me was that everytime I started Steam it disconnected the USB connection for the headset.

It's not even Steam itself, it just seems random. Sometimes starting a Source/Diesel Engine game will make it happen, sometimes not. Rocket League never makes it happen, but Binding of Isaac (rebirth) always does. Don't even get me started on plugging in devices.

google translate:
I solved the problem, connected the headphones to the first usb socket where the keyboard was connected and while the system (windows 10) set up the headphones, launched (Siberia150FwUpdate.exe) everything was updated at once, but do not rush to rejoice, in some people they can be detected as an audio driver, that would be recognized as a siberia 150 simply pull out the cord from the usb and reconnect again

In the settings should be like this:

in additional devices should not be anything, but in the sound of siberia should be shown exactly so, without the figures ahead.

This might help, seems to have worked for me:
Go to device manager -> universal serial bus controllers. Go to properties on each usb root hub. Go to power management tab, uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Might need a computer restart after this.

This seems to indicate that the headphones use suprisingly large amount of power so the computer keeps shutting them down. Tested running three games simultaneously without problems so far when before it kept disconnecting whenever I started a game.

This is still only after few hours of testing, but so far promising. I also haven't tried the firmware update that showed up on this conversation.
If un-checking that power option does the trick; usually what is occurring is the device is going idle power-wise at some point, the system thinks "ok this device went idle, I can turn it off since it's in such a low power state already" and turns off its power due to this. Games 100% dislike when this occurs, especially with Controllers or Headphones.
Yes disable this option for every Keyboard + Mouse + Controller + Joystick + Wheel + Headphones that are USB based.

I think I've found a fix, to those who have had this problem, by any chance did you have a second usb item plugged into the front ports of your PC when the headset went haywire, Say a phone charger, I did and as soon as I unplugged it the headset reconnected and hasn't disconnected since, to test it I plugged in a usb in the front port with the headset and it started screwing up again
