Best 3rd-Party Wireless 360 Receiver?
I have several PC games both Steam and non-Steam that support local mulitplayer, and I have a bunch of wireless 360 controllers for my Xbox that I'd like to use for that. But, I found out I need a wireless receiver to use them.

I've looked for a place to buy the official Microsoft receiver, but I've only found it bundled with a contoller ($60 I don't want to spend), amongst a flood of fakes/knock-offs. I then checked Amazon, and there's a whole lot of 3rd party receivers there.

Can you guys tell me the best one to buy? I'd like to spend no more than $15, but if it's really good, I may spend more.

Thanks in advance!

The fakes are all the same - fake.

Your best bet is to canvass Ebay for used official ones, like this for example:

The official one is the best route.

I have a knock-off which works fine, except that Windows doesn't recognize the device right away, so I have to sometimes manually assign the driver to get the thing working.

The official MS one is cheap enough; do not take the "fake" route. They are junk and do not work as well (or at all) like the Microsoft one does. Many reviewers warned about buying a non-official receiver and it's all for good reason.

And just in case u are buying elsewhere, here are some good pictures of what the official authentic adapters look like:

Ones as shown below, are generic/fakes:
