Best cooler for i7 4790k
I'm going to upgrade soon to a i7 4790k and I was wondering what would be the best way to cool it because I'm wanting to do 1080p 60fps rendering and such. I was looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 and the Corsair Hydro Series High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H60 but I'm willing to take suggestions. Water cooler or no? I really don't know when it comes to coolers.

H60 is perfect for cooling and overclocking. If you want to spend more money for even better cooling, get a Corsair Hydro Series H110i GT 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler

It's not really worth going liquid cooling unless you go high end. A good air cooler can out perform lower end liquid units. Make sure whatever you get will fit in your case.

CPU load temperature benchmarks

corsair warranty does cover leakage made by there coolers to other componants, as an example if it leaks on to your GPU they will replace it (would need extensive proof to do this), not sure about cooler master warranty covers this.
The only comparable fan/heatsink cpu cooler off the top of my head are ones by noctua/deepcool, they tend to be pretty large though and dont fit many cases.

hope this helps

I use the Corsair H100i on my i7-4790K and it does the job great.

Air cooling and liquid cooling will have the same cooling capabilties, for the most part. Any differences will mainly be with the individual efficiency of said cooler, regardless if it is air or liquid. The biggest difference comes with where the heat is exhausted.

With an air cooler, the heat is pulled away into the heat sink, and the fan blows it into the case where your case fans then blow it out of the case.

With a liquid cooler, the heat is pulled away via liquid, into the radiator, and the fan blows it straight out of the case.

So the Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 will probably do just fine?

Cooling wise? Maybe. Read reviews and make the judgement call.

I personally recommend liquid cooling so the heat does not transfer to other parts and you will more than likely have better, more efficient cooling overall.

...and you won't have to strap a heavy block of metal to your mobo.
