Ips kinda sucks in general... it's slower and have all the light bleed problems and stuff... I read a lot of ppl complaining about stuff like that. The good old TN panels are still great, and resulution + refresh rate is all that matters.
I would personally not buy anything thats not 1ms, ips or TN doesnt matter.
Yeah, in the past, you would use IPS panel only for work purposes. They where slow (5ms @ 60Hz) for gaming and could have light bleed - true. It's basically what UltraHD 4K is @ now.
Hense why I mentioned version 2 (prevents light bleeding). The later model monitors are really getting up there and excel for gaming too!
Getting close, yeah, but not there yet.
I will not even consider ips monitor untill they can make 1ms 144hz 4k
I currently have an asus rog swift pg278q, 1ms, 144hz, 1440p, gsync. And for my next monitor i want a resolution upgrade, anything else is good as it is. And i'm totally not downgrading for ips, no matter how close the specs are, they must all be better or at least the same.
The best idea is if they have them setup in a computer store, check it out side-by-side comparsion. You will drool with 144Hz @ 4ms using G-SYNC, it's smooth, rich, and a razor sharp gaming experience. Perhaps it's the G-SYNC which kicks it up, but it's seriously worth a compare.
The Asus ROG Swift PG278Q is also a serious gaming beast on the other hand. You should be happy with either.
It sounds like I'm going to be happy with either version, I'm just not sure if one has far less problems than the other.
I was literally going to pull the trigger on the Acer, I read a lot of bad stuff on Amazon. Not sure how much you can trust that.
I guess you guys would agree there is not a night and day difference like a store bought computer vs. a custom built gaming rig.
Thanks for the help. At first I was thinking this doesn't make it any easier, but really it does, it sounds like I will be ok with either one.
