Asus ROG Swift PG278Q Vs. Acer Predator XB270HU V2 ?
I've narrowed my monitor search down to Asus ROG Swift PG278Q Vs. Acer Predator XB270HU V2. I have read good and bad stuff on both, not sure which way to go. I havent hear Asus mentioned in this thread so far, so I'm leaning toward the Acer.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Can you notice the difference of 0.004 seconds?

On a TN Panel, yes it's actually possible to notice between 2ms to 5ms.
Can not notice between 1ms and 2ms.

On a IPS Panel, I personally don't notice any input lag or ghosting up to 5ms.
4ms IPS is actually extremely good.

Adding G-SYNC on top of that, it's a very smooth experience. I would take that monitor over a Ultra 4K anyday for some serious hardcore gaming...

Ips kinda sucks in general... it's slower and have all the light bleed problems and stuff... I read a lot of ppl complaining about stuff like that. The good old TN panels are still great, and resulution + refresh rate is all that matters.

I would personally not buy anything thats not 1ms, ips or TN doesnt matter.

Yeah, in the past, you would use IPS panel only for work purposes. They where slow (5ms @ 60Hz) for gaming and could have light bleed - true. It's basically what UltraHD 4K is @ now.

Hense why I mentioned version 2 (prevents light bleeding). The later model monitors are really getting up there and excel for gaming too!

Getting close, yeah, but not there yet.

I will not even consider ips monitor untill they can make 1ms 144hz 4k

I currently have an asus rog swift pg278q, 1ms, 144hz, 1440p, gsync. And for my next monitor i want a resolution upgrade, anything else is good as it is. And i'm totally not downgrading for ips, no matter how close the specs are, they must all be better or at least the same.

The best idea is if they have them setup in a computer store, check it out side-by-side comparsion. You will drool with 144Hz @ 4ms using G-SYNC, it's smooth, rich, and a razor sharp gaming experience. Perhaps it's the G-SYNC which kicks it up, but it's seriously worth a compare.

The Asus ROG Swift PG278Q is also a serious gaming beast on the other hand. You should be happy with either.

I don't have a 144mhz monitor yet, so I can really use the upgrade.

It sounds like I'm going to be happy with either version, I'm just not sure if one has far less problems than the other.

I was literally going to pull the trigger on the Acer, I read a lot of bad stuff on Amazon. Not sure how much you can trust that.

I guess you guys would agree there is not a night and day difference like a store bought computer vs. a custom built gaming rig.

Thanks for the help. At first I was thinking this doesn't make it any easier, but really it does, it sounds like I will be ok with either one.

@DeadSlash, did you go for the pg278q TN or for the pg279q IPS? I currently just have a regular 144hz 1080p monitor. Was thinking about buying a 1440p 144hz + Gsync after I upgraded to a 980Ti. You're still liking the results on yours? And grats on the purchase :)

Thank you! I do not regret it at all. I'm still kind of in awe over the difference, lol not sure how old you are, but the grey beards among us might know what I'm talking about when I say that it reminds me of when I got my firest video card and played Quake2 in open GL, it took like a month for the stunned look on my face to wear off.

Asus ROG Swift PG278Q Vs. Acer Predator XB270HU V2. if you have sufficient graphic processing unit like quad 980Ti or double Titan X it will run smoothly in 144hz. I more likely the appearance of ROG rather than Acer you should consider your preferences
