How Nvidia Driver 350.12 ruined an Alienware
I recently updated my Nvidia driver, it says it optimized the Nvdia graphics cards for the game SW: Battlefront but damn. I experienced 2 BSODs and the last time is just 5 mins ago and my Guild Wars 2 has screen tearing, after an hour or so the game flashesits very hard to look at, then crash. The fan is also very noisy. My only failed tests is for my NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, it failed the GPU Pipeline Data Test and Transformation and Lighting Stress Test so I know the driver is broken. I am now trying to find an older and more stable driver. :steamsad:

Specs: Alienware M14x R2, CPUi7-3610QM, GT 650M with Optimus, 16GB RAM, 750GB 7,200 RPM SATA 3Gb/s

roll back to an older driver.
Fully Uninstall; reboot
Update Drivers for Intel Chipset INF and Intel HD GPU; reboot
Clean Install NVIDIA 355 WHQL > Custom > Clean Install

While people complain about Nvidia drivers, 90% of the time it's not actually them, rather the Windows Operating System blocking it's correct installation and replacing the files with it's own.

Download the latest offical drivers from:
http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Reboot into safe mode (hold down Shift Key while restarting if Win 10, then go under Troubleshooting > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Enable Safe Mode.

Right-click the Nvidia drivers and "Run As Administrator".

Do a clean Full Express installation (not custom).

---

Since you mentioned your graphic card fans are very noisy, ensure it's not overheating. Feel around the back of the PC and make sure it's not hot air. If so, it might be hot pocketing air at the rear. This ends up recycling back into the case and affecting the graphics card which just cycles it around and around no matter how hard it tries, then overheats and crashes out. You want to make sure there's room out the back for hot air to escape. The lower area of the PC case isn't hot, dust, or blocked with cables, etc. Consider cleaning with a can of compressed air, you can purchase for cheap at most computer stores.
