2. virus/malware infestation.
3. failing hdd.
pc specs is in my profile description.i just scan my anti malware/virus yesterday.
as an additional protection, you can use free versions of
1. spybot search and destroy
2. malwarebytes antimalware
download from their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ websites or mirror download from:
after installation, update definitions and run the programs one at a time.
depending on how fast or slow the cpu is, scans may take a few minutes to more than an hour.
my problem is avast scaning way to long, it was at 0% for 30 mintues untill it reach to 24% one hour later.
say you sleep at 9pm.
do avast full pc scan before you go to sleep and perhaps by the time you wake up, it will have finished scan.
if there are suspicious files found, quarantine them.
(antiviruses are best for killing pc viruses)
then do malwarebytes pc scan (best for killing malwares) on your next available time.
then do spybot search and destroy (best for killing internet browser hijackers and other bots) on your next available time.
All you really need for realtime crap is Windows Defender, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, IObit Malware Fighter (which can and will all work together). Course Malwarebytes will not run in realtime unless u pay for it.
Then use Firefox or Chrome w/ AdBlock (turn the Malware Protection on)
And also apply the "No Tracking" feature in either Browser.
- in Chrome u can also download extensions from Google such as;
IBA Opt-out (by Google) and Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on (by Google)
I advise against Edge Browser for now because of the lack of extensions for that yet.
If u want IE back, it is there, but hidden; Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs tab > click "Change default browser back to IE" -or- u can launch IE other ways, from within Edge via the button in the upper-right; or go to IE's folder under Program Files (x86) and make a Shortcut from iexplore.exe
Also ensure u actually go download ALL Device Drivers for your system's hardware and install them. Do not rely on what any WinOS already has built-in. Opt out of Device Drivers from Windows Updates; unless they are ones for Microsoft Products, such as Xbox360/XboxOne Controllers.
Also please note u will not see "Windows Updates" via Control Panel in Win10. For that click Start Button/Menu and click Settings > Updates & Security
