Is this a decent power supply?

Sooo I got a new power supply for my office system since the old Nexus RX-8500 was behaving badly... (fan making weird noise & pc completely shuttding down randomly)

I got a Sharkoon WPM500 500Watts.

When I check the PSU tier list Sharkoon is listed in the worst "replace immediately" category...

The PSU was bought at a very specialized store called Alternate. It's their house brand and the guy from the shop said that's it's a very decent budget PSU. It does have a 80+ Bronze rating and it says it has OVP, OPP & SCP protection.

Here are the spce of the pc that is meant for office, web surfing & photo editing:
CPU: Intel Core I7 920
Cooler: Intel stock
Mobo: GigaByte GA-EX58-UD5
RAM: OCZ Platinum XTC 6 GB DDR3-1333 MHz, CL 7, Kit Of 3
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 5850 1024 MB
HDD1: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500 GB, 7200 Rpm
HDD2: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500 GB, 7200 Rpm
Case: Antec Gamersgear Twelve Hundred
PSU: Nexus Technology RX-8500 850 Wat
ODD1: LG GH22NS30
ODD2: LG GH22NS30

Best bet is stay clear of that brand; they are shady and have been known to slap a falsified "80+PLUS Bronze Certified" passing sticker on pretty much all their models, regardless of specs.

I'd stick to ones of Gold or Platinum certified from brands like XFX, EVGA, Corsair, Seasonic, Silverstone

I would trust the tier list over guy who's job is peddle the junk with highest price possible.

Return it and get this instead:

It surprises me that such a professional store would use a shady brand in their own shop systems. That doesn't make sense...

Hardwareheaven which seemed like a professional review did gave it an 8 out of 10.

Idk if I can still return it now that the packaging has been opened and the PSU has been installed already. :S

Anyway for my maing gaming system I would never go lower than a Corsair HXi or AXi power supply. (currently have a Corsair HX1050 for my main rig)

Cheaper priced route would be these; but u'll still be getting great quality and warranty.

- XFX TS 550 or 650
- EVGA SuperNova G2 650

Demand that it be replaced by a Seasonic unit.

Well u often can't have an online retailer replace one model for another; I would simply request a Refund Return. One reason to buy from a good online retailer like Amazon, as they are always willing to help and offer refund + pre-paid return shipping.

Well I bought it in the shop at the customer service desk because I brought the faulty Nexus PSU with me to show it to them. There's a small chance that if I put everything back in the original packaging along with the receipt that they might return / refund it.
