Check the manuals and ask MSI since it's their product.

You have an R9 M290X, the R9 290X is for desktops. Have you tried updating your drivers and switching from the AMD Catalyst utility thing? Also you should check your BIOS settings to make sure it is not disabled.

It seems like you have a gaming laptop with both integrated and discrete GPU. He should be able to switch through software. Possibly, through windows contol panel, or possibly through the amd catalyst front end.

Gaming laptops have both options because both modes have their advantages. iGPU will be easy on battery, while not suitable for more serious gaming; the discrete GPU will use much more power, so that usually is used plugged in and for gaming.

Seems like OP has figured it out. By the way, if you iGPU is not performing like you think it should, check that you have both memory slots occupied. Some laptop vendors sell new notebooks with 1x8GB rather than 2x4GB, and people unknowingly will run in single channel memory mode and get much worse memory bandwidth, which then becomes noticeable if the GPU is also using that bandwidth.

the article is very outdated, but you should find the same or similar options in 'Radeon Settings'
