GeForce GT 730?
I'm not a huge PC gamer, so up until today I had a GeForce GT 430 with only 1 GB RAM. I went to Best Buy for a GT 730 with 2GB of RAM figuring it was a good upgrade with double the amount of RAM.

They were out of stock so I went with the GT 610 w/ 2GB RAM. I'm noticing it's not doing well with ARK and Cities Skylines, my 2 main games right now.

So my question, return the 610 and get the 730?

The 730 is the better card I believe althought they're both fairly minimal. The 730 will be able to run modern games but you will have to reduce graphical quality to low/medium.

ARK barely played on the 430, I think i had it down to the lowest quality.

I'm not a huge PC gamer as I said. Currently only have Cities: Skylines, The Sims 3/4, and ARK.

The minimum for ARK is a Direct 11 card with 1GB of RAM so I figured a card with 2GB would at least let it run better than it was.

Forget the GT series cards, those are all office PC cards not meant for gaming.
If you have 300W power supply swap it to GTX 750 Ti, if 400W power supply then GTX 950.

This is graphics card hierarchy chart to help compare different graphics cards:

Latest generations for Nvidia are GTX 700, 900 series and AMD R9 200, 300 series.

My PSU IS 400W and i have 6 GB of RAM on my tower. What would be the best card? I'm trying to stay 100/110 or under if I can. Money's kinda tight at the moment,

Problem is ARK and Cities: Skylines are not old school titles. And 4 Gb VRAM is completely wasted on so weak card, lucky if it can use more then 1 Gb of it, they slap those amounts of VRAM on weak cards to make you think you got a good deal. And DDR3 VRAM is lot slower then DDR5 VRAM btw.

plenty for XP era titles

Get a GTX 960, GT are too weak for modern gaming.

If you are limited to 100 bucks then look for a GTX 750Ti.

I noticed the GTX 750Ti has takes up 2 slots. I only have my graphics card in my expansion slots and my current tower supports PCI express 2.0 x16, Will that work with this card?
SundownKid Sep 30, 2015 @ 7:19pm
Yes, it should work fine. And any tower will be able to support a 2 slot card easily.
Rumpelcrutchskin Sep 30, 2015 @ 9:31pm
It takes up two slots but it still connects to motherboard with just one PCI-E slot.
PCI-E 3.0 cards are backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.0 so no problem there.
For current games don't go below GTX x50. Old skool XP era games and even some early Vista/Win7 era games its fine. I'd go at least 750Ti for your listed games, maybe even 960 2 or 4Gb or the new 950 which is targeted to replace the 750Ti.

730 typically, will cost about half of the 750 and 950 Tis though...so be prepared to step up.

HAHAHAH GT430 and 1 RAM (I have 2 but I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ CPU) and I feel you :( My pc is old and sometimes it doesnt even "wake up". It's like waiting for an old man to die :(
I'm also looking for recommendations.. a lot of people actually recommend GTX 970 for gaming (not heavy) that can run today's games (also the price is okay-ish).
If you just wanan stay low-mid-end and for a much lower price, GTX750(ti) would be good. The GT is kinda..idk, not suitable for gamers, i guess.
