Help with the 3DMark score for GTX970
Hey guys,
Got a quick question for all you fellow Steam gamers...
I have the following configuration:
  • ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z97M-PLUS
  • 16GB DDR3
  • Core i7-4790K
  • Windows 10 Home
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 - By Asus (Strix) - 1 GPU card only

My FireStrike 1.1 score using 3D Mark is 3463. Please note, there is no overclocking used and SLI is turned off for the test.

If you guys have any comments about why the score is so low, or any recommendations on how to improve the performance, that would be great. Thanks in advance for your responses.

What was the resolution and settings for the test? I had this on the first pass using the benchmark also on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.. Did you test Sky Diver, Cloud Gate, and Ice Storm just to see what the scores were?

A couple of things, check Task Manager and make sure you don't have unwanted processes running, disable junk processes at start up. Reboot and test immediately after reboot, to make sure system resources are refreshed before testing.

Cool! I will give that a shot. Thanks.

WTH my Cloud Gate was 30578, Ice Storm was 144766, and Sky Diver was 34313...something just doesn't sound right with your tests. Have you also run Unigine Valley or any of the others from Unigine. They are also free.

Downloading now... Will respond in a little over an hour.
I know something is just not adding up. however, I recently updated from 7 to 10 and did a clean install of the drivers, but no luck...

On Unigine you can modify benchmarks GPU settings low, medium and high settings before testing. These will tax the system and scores will be lower, but it'll give you an idea what demanding games would run like on your system.

~1400 in Ultra

Unigine Valley on ultra for my first pass was 4744, but 30 minutes after we built my youngest sons Skylake i5 6600k 16Gb DDR4 980 FTW rig he pulls almost 5000 on Valley...

What do you recommend I do?

Something is slowing you down, and I'm not sure what..could be PSU not giving enough power to the card...what PSU and how old is it? That rig should be doing much better in benchmarks. How about normal game play, any issues? Any high temp issues?

650W Corsair R650 - Bought a new one.

Gameplay is mostly okay but sometimes it is extremely jittery/laggy. No issue with temperature stays between 40-60.

I wish I knew...sounds like the rig is fine as far as pieces. What Nvidia Drivers? I know the whole 970 3.5 vs .5 Gb VRAm thing, I think its overplayed, even at 3.5 Gb VRAM should be smoking the benchmarks..
