Neither, this one beats both of them by large margin and has decent amount of VRAM:

^ this if he can afford it

what mobo and cpu?

those gpus only have 8 lanes, not 16
of the cpu/mobo are pci-e 3.0 it will restrict their performance some

but of the 2 the 4060 is better performing, but no by alot

but if its going in an older build, look for a rx 7600 or 6700 instead

I would also go with the 6750XT 12GB. Way more powerful than the 4060 with more VRAM at about the same price.
There is really nothing better at that price.

I grabbed an RX 6800 on the 6th for 285 on Ebay.
XFX SWFT Speedster.

using a 5600g, so it pcie 3.0 x 16

i dont think pcie4 card in pcie 3 makes a massive loss does it?5% loss maybe by what ive seen

i really want to be at the £200 point, £250 is very max, i was hoping for a good 4060 deal over prime days, but i forgot amazon sales are useless

its not the lower pci ver, its the fact that those gpus has 8 lanes, not 16
at pci-e 3.0 x8 its about half the bandwidth that it can use

From what I've seen online the performance hit is minimal..

RTX 4060 is better as more cores. However both are limited in terms of VRAM.

Going for a 6700-XT or 6750-XT makes much more sense if possible, 6600 is a budget card that won't maintain its usefulness for too long and the 4060 was kind of held back because they focused more on power efficiency for the low end
UserNotFound 10 OCT 2024 a las 10:48 p. m.
As others had stated, the RX 6750 XT has more VRAM, and hence more headroom for higher texture setting, is more powerful in pure rasterize gaming than the RTX 4060.

As for max budget of 250 pounds, what's the price of an RX 6750 XT? But honestly, IF you can snag the RX 6800 from eBay (must have assurances that it's fully functional, with money back guarantee for defective product), with 16GB VRAM and being powerful, it should tide you over for a longer time.

I had a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6800 before I'd upgraded it to a Nitro+ RX 6900 XT, it certainly is a pretty capable card with excellent gaming potential.....especially now with AFMF 2. But, if that eBay deal sounds risky, then an RX 6750XT at 250 pounds or less would be a good alternative.

Edit - Just as evidence that I ain't BS'ing, here's a shot of both my RX 6000 series cards from back then. IIRC, the RX 6900 XT is in the background, don't let the perspective of the pic fool you, they're exactly the same size...

i got an RTX 4060 myself last weekend. i upgraded from an RTX 2060 that ive had for years. it is much faster (obviously) but also much cooler and quiter and consumes way less power. i appreciate power efficiency over peak performance. im also a budget pc gamer. my new setup is an upgrade over a 7 year old one (which wasnt even running too badly actually) so i can play pretty much any game just fine

i was able to get mine for €289. this RX 6750 XT that ppl mention wouldve cost me over €60 more. also unless i understand TDP wrong, it also consumes way more power when running hot (250W vs the 4060's 115W). the 4060 is way more power efficient for the performance you get out of it.

another question may be: what resolution do you want to play your games with, mr threadstarter?
The 3 Whites 12 OCT 2024 a las 5:02 a. m.
the current amd low end gaming gpu is amd rx 7600.
also intel arc 750 / 770 can be a nice low price card if you get a good discount
if you do blender or local ai stuff then take nvidia card.

from looking at the fps rates and power consumption i would buy currently 4060
