How will new GPUs affect the used market?
With the RTX 3000 series offering great performance gains with lower prices, would this drastically lower used GPU prices? Im still seeing sellers trying to sell 2080Tis for $1000 (Canadian funds).

Just because some are trying to sell used for large amounts doesn't mean they'll get sold.

Those sellers are trying to milk people that are paying attention to upcoming releases. Once the RTX 30's release and people realise they can buy newer and better for less they'll buy new.

RTX 3000 will inevitably cause lower used prices of past generation GPUs because nobody that knows what they're looking at is going to pay a significant amount for a GPU that's beaten by the next generation for less money. The only people buying 2080 Ti's for 1000$+ CAD are the people that don't know any better.

Just looking at some data from ebay sales in the past 5 days, seems the 2080 TI is selling for around $650(usd), though a lucky few have gotten it as low as $580.

Its funny, just a few weeks ago, if you asked someone to sell you a 2080Ti for $600-$700, they'd think you're nuts. Now it's starting to look like a real possibility that it could go lower, as no one will pay the same price for a slower and older tech GPU.

The cards haven't been released yet and there will probably be a shortage of them. Used card prices might take a bit longer to fall.

Happens to almost every new generation. The reason why used market get affected is because they have to compete against the new products that get release by the manufacturer. Retails that still holding old products, keep an eye on them like a hawk, as they might do a clarence sales, where they list the product for a majority huge discount.

I think the approaching release of rtx 3... is having a ripple effect way beyond used gpus. Monitors, power supplies, mainboards, etc. I don't have any published proof--oh wait, all you have to do is read the myriad threads of people upgrading already.

It's amazing,
