PSA: About Performance Issues
Many of you have expressed complaints regarding performance drops recently.
The latest Windows Updates might be your culprit.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1fqc3us/do_not_install_kb5043131_update_for_windows_10_or/

You CAN block certain updates if needed, however they need to not be installed yet in order to do this. And you can do that using this tool: https://www.minitool.com/news/how-to-block-specific-updates-on-windows-10-11.html

If you have Win11, stay well away from 24H2 until performance patches come out later on. This is causing all sorts of problems for Gamers.

I've got mine paused, usually it's updates that tank performance, so I did that straight away.

Awesome update block program, I definitely need that.

Yea I had to use that blocking tool before, it works fine.
They kept trying to push us that update regarding BitLocker that had issues so I've blocked that update on all my Win10 machines.

However if a troubled update has already installed, it first needs to be uninstalled, then reboot the PC and then run the Show/Hide Tool so it can detect the update as a new pending update and block it. Afterwards you can go back to Windows Updates and Pause again if needed.

Thanks for the info. I hope they will fix it?

KB5043131 for Win10 came out Sep 24 2024 and it's still available to everyone via Windows Updates; so it's not fixed or pulled yet.

And it stays and waits in optional updates, so I should be safe?
Nevermind, I will turn on the manual updates again.

That's the thing, it's not an optional update.
Hence the reason to use the Show/Hide Tool so you can block it completely.

Yeah I'm not a fan of those automatic updates, it'll just install them after a max time period

I do not want 24h2. At all. I guess when I can no longer block it I'll just try Linux see if I can crank out better performance in cs2 since it's build natively to work

You're talking about Win11; the thread is mainly about Win10.

24H2 for Win11 is optional; as long as you're on 23H2 you're good til Nov 2025
