I'm still using Windows 11 23H2 and I've been stalling to install in the last 2 months updates because I can't find what to install and I've read yesterday a newer version of Wind.11 got out and Microsoft will be forcing old operational system to formly have the newest version.

What to do with all of this happening?

I just recently got my new computer with Windows 11 on it, and I haven't seen any forced updating issues on it.

only 11 22H2 will have an automatic update to 24H2 cause 22H2 ran out of support already
But 23H2 is supported until Oct 2025 so you have time

So if you're saying I won't be needed to format or reinstall a new version of Windows 11 then how come I still can't select which updates to install. 24H2 for consumers is supported until late 2026, with enterprise until 2027 and the LTSC edition can go all the way to Jan 2034
23H2 never had an LTSC release or anything like that. so until November 2025, with enterprise to November 2026

About how upgrades work? as of today, 24H2 is labeled as an optional upgrade for 23H2 users so while Windows will automatically install security updates, 24H2 will remain optional for a long while
Also you don't have to reinstall Windows or reformat just to upgrade OS builds. if anything, I haven't reinstalled Windows since like Win10 1903 and I just kept on doing "upgrade, upgrade, upgrade" with every new build (running Win11 24H2 today)

Win11 doesn't need TPM2 to run unless you use Windows Hello or Bitlocker or if you play games with anti cheat such as Riot Vanguard that actually enforce the TPM2+Secure Boot requirements if the user is on 11

it is required. windows 11 does not start without it. windows 10 does not need it however. i turned it off on my cepter and all it did was prevent me from installing windows 11. i am done feeding this troll.

I managed to get 11 23H2 up and running on a 2006 laptop with a Pentium T2330, 4GB RAM and Intel GMA X3100.
This hardware doesn't have UEFI, TPM2 or Secure Boot or even Windows 7 drivers yet the OS runs. 24H2 won't load on that laptop cause no SSE4.2 but it was merely a test machine that serves no real purpose

to bypass the requirements, You can very much use Rufus to create your Win11 install media and one of the options in there will be to bypass all of the hardware checks

Feature Updates (the build you update the OS to when you switch from 22H2 > 23H2 > 24H2); these build updates have a 2 year support cycle; so if you are on 23H2, you're good to run that until next year. You don't have to update to 24H2 right away.

22H2 came out this time in 2022; thus its reached EOS (Oct 8th 2024)
23H2 ends Nov 2025
24H2 end Oct 2026

So your WIn11 that is on 23H2, you might see the 24H2 update, however it will be optional at this time. As that PC is used closer towards Nov 2025, they will want to force the update on it, naturally since your OS basically is about to expire in terms of getting future updates should you stay on 23H2.

I don't like how they handled those older OS service packs though. They should have done maybe like one SP per year. So that during clean installs years later it would be much easier to re-gain all those OS updates. Cause even for people who were doing a clean install of say WinXP SP2 or Win7 SP1; there were still tons of updates to get from WU after OS is installed. Doing a clean install of Win10 22H2 today is not too bad at least. There aren't a ridiculous amount of updates to get compared with how older OS' were. Plus back in the earlier days of XP and 7; most people internet was alot slower too.

The feature upgrades are your new Service Packs. Even back in Windows 7 you had to install SP1 to get updates post 2013
Windows 10 as an OS released in 2015 and still is supported until 2025 for the general consumer and Windows 11 will be supported until like 2032

The lifecycle for a Windows release did remain the same, about 10 and half years for each version for the consumer
